We headed off today to see Lauren and Dean as he is cray fishing up in Lancelin, and it just so happens that there is a big windsurfing competion and we happen to have a 2 bed house with 2 sets of bunk beds and 1 double, yes you guessed it we had the choice of the 2 bunks to choose from and as we were the last ones to arrive we had what was left thank god it was the bottom bunk, two on the top bunk would have been interesting.
We arrived around lunch time and yes you guessed it headed straight for one of the two local pubs, which was already busy, the race started 20ks down south from Ledge point finishing a few ks after Lancelin, people had come from all over the world to compete so the atmos was great. We had the view of the finishing line which was great watching the girls and boys rock up looking extremely tired, it was tiring watching them try to carry the sail and boards from the water without being in the race ha ha.
we went back to Deans place for a while and had
the freshest Cray I have ever tasted, they took the meat out of the shell then place it in malt vineger for about 10 mins then ate like this, it was crazy you could see the meat change from clear to white and boy did it taste great.
Jay had had a guy who stayed at the backpackers who now worked with his mum in a restaurant here and we had popped in to say hi, he said come back for a feed which we did and wish we hadn't as the food was over priced and not good at all. Jay had salad which still had the ground on it and I had seafood pasta which was just full of cheep squid rings so disappointing.
We went back and grabbed the others and just in time as the fire works were just starting and boy did they spend some money on these as they went on forever they were great, we walked along the beach to head to the same pub we were at all day and it was mobbed the bouncers were trying to say no more in but as if we just walked along and
jumped under the railings. They had live music which was good and a really crap DJ that stopped playing at a really great song which did not please the crowds he did stay on for long. So glad we took our own beer with us as the que was massive at the bar.
We headed back to Deans then decided to go back to the sand dunes as it was a full moon, we had visited here once already today and boy it was crazy it took about 5mins to get to the top, it did not look a long way from the bottom but felt like you were up really high when you got to the top. When you looked one way you could see sand dunes and the village and from the other you looked like you were in the desert we so wished we had bought Jay's dads car 4x4 would have been so much fun maybe next time. Yes under the moon light we climbed to the top again and listened to the the pumping music from up on top of the sand dunes. We had so much fun this weekend.
