After more than a month in my new home here in Western Australia, we decided to go a bit farther out and visit Fremantle. After a quick stop in Perth (30 minutes or so by train) to get some cash, we took the train to Fremantle (I think another 30 minutes).
It was a gorgeous day and Fremantle was the perfect venue for a day out. First we had lunch at Cicerello's, reputedly the best restaurant at the Fishing Boat Harbour. I don't know about the other dining outlets there but my Seafood Basket was great -- the shrimps, squid and fish were super fresh -- lovely with a bit of salt, a squeeze of lemon and a dollop of tartare sauce! Yummmm! 😱. The servings were gigantic of course and it's such a waste I can't finish most of the food we order out here 😞.
We were supposed to take the Tram Tour after lunch but the timetable didn't quite suit our schedule so after a quick peek at the Maritime Museum, we headed out via the free Orange Cat buses to the Fremantle Prison.
At the Fremantle Prison, we took the Doing Time tour, guided
by funnyman David. There's not much sense writing about a walking tour because it tends to get a bit disconnected for the reader so I'll just put all the information as captions in the pics for you to better appreciate what you're seeing.
After "doing time" at the Prison, we roamed a bit at the Fremantle Markets. Lots of kitschy, artsy goods here and this is the first time I've seen goods similar to what's being sold in Asian markets -- it certainly is a breath of fresh air from the uber-sanitized merchandising display in the mall stores and hypermarkets 😊 The colors brought me back to the Philippines 😊
Going back, we passed by the Fremantle beach which we have in the agenda next trip 😊
