Dandaragan - Jurian Bay - Pinnacles - Stone Fruit Orchid
Published: February 18th 2009Oceania » Australia » Western Australia » DandaraganDandaragan is a tiny town with a General store, social/sports club, a few houses, transit camp ground (which we opted for at $65/week for 2 people) and Gum Tree Village, Dandy's only accommodation. For the first week of the stay I'm sure we were eaten half to death by bedbugs and a working available shower was a rarity. Pioneer park where we ended up living in the van for 3 weeks was far more relaxing if you are a happy camper. Working in an Orchid was interesting and takes some getting used too, could be unpleasant when it gets to 35+ and the flies are insane. The place grew tiresome after a week due to its remoteness. Well… This is a hard entry to write because working on the olive farm we have learnt so much, met so many people and had so much fun its hard to know where to start. I guess from were I left off on my last entry. We have been taught to drive all manner of vehicles from a quad bike to the Collosus olive harvester. We have made some great friends and having a lot of fun along the way. Zoe and I were primarily the tractor drivers on the day shift, working from seven am to seven pm.
