Days 62 and 63 - They pretty much rolled into one so we might aswell blog them as one!
Saturday
Today is party day and we've got a lot of setting up to do. Puppy Watch went well last night, not too many whimpers and once I'd moved his bed next to ours it was just a case of me leaving my arm hanging over the side of the bed for him to be settled back down!
We were up early, the girls were excited to see Max and he was very pleased to see them and Henry. There had been a few deliveries of things for the party last night, plenty of beer associated merchandising stuff so we can turn the back yard into a pub! Fairy lights were up, guitars blown up, banners, posters, balloons - you name it we hung it! Then the tables were dressed the plates and cutlery put out, the spit roast set up and finally the huge beer 'baths' created! VB and Carlton was the order of the day - about 20 cases of each!
The party has an easy dress code, Bogan, which pretty much means we can dress like we do at racing! A bit of attention to the blue eye shadow make up and some back combing of the hair (for me!) and we're done! People start arriving really early and the party is soon in full swing! We've got some photos which we'll upload in the next few days, they'll probably tell the story better than we can! Darryl was doing a great job of helping with the spit roast and I was still on Puppy Watch but both of us got to meet new people, Melinda and her husband Roberto were especially lovely to chat too. The speeches were a complete hoot, can't write a lot of it down but I learned my cousin had driven to Sydney in the buff and that a $40 bet to drink a gross concoction offered to a multitude of people was only ever going to be taken on by one man, Grant!
Catching up with Poovie and Puneet was great, antagonizing Dale is always fun (hope you're not too sore after our tumble, you wimp, I'm not even that heavy!) and his wife Pru is fab and has such a great sense of humour. We've become very fond of the circle of friends around the Adams. Mel and Liz we just adore and I laughed so hard last night with you ladies! Then there's Nicola, she's crackers and we love her. The whole 'caster sugar' episode, very funny! It was great to see Aunty Daph, Bert and his girlfriend Kim, always a hoot and during puppy watch we got to have a good, girly chat! Anna's Mum and Dad were there joining in the whole Bogan themed dress code, good on ya both! We loved catching up with Paula, Anna's sister, and watching her son Luke loving the new puppy so much. Great to see Lisa and ‘cousin’ Jimmy again and Jaci who we haven't seen for a few years! Also Nicole and Peter who stayed with us in the Sydney apartment on our honeymoon in 2009 - I think we surprised them when they walked in! There was around 80 people in the house so it was pretty busy, ironically I think the person we spent the least amount of time with was Grant but we were dancing on the living room table together towards the end of the 'night' which was really 4.45am! James become fixed on Robbie Williams and there was more table dancing and singing which was hilarious and must have been quite special for the neighbours in terms of the beautiful voices and harmonies that we delivered!
Saturday into Sunday and we were on puppy watch plus Nicola was staying over at the bottom of our bed! Grant was on the couch, Tara & Eddie were in the ladies lounge, James was in the back bedroom and Jordon on the mattress in the girl’s room - full house! We were awake again by 8am, puppy duties and Amy was up and about. I should have taken a photo of the full train wreck we had left behind last night, it was quite amazing!
It took a while for the effects of last night to subside but we were soon into cleaning mode - Tara at the helm doing a grand job while Nicola and I busied ourselves standing up straight, it was a tough job! Grant managed to cook everyone breakfast which fixed most of us right up and then headed off to the Footy with Eddie & Tara. We're staying home to clean the rest of the house and spend time with the girls. Bill and Helen came by so we hauled the desserts out of the fridge for a bit of a reminder on how good they were! Superb!
And that's what happened today! We fly back to Brisbane tomorrow, leaving behind the Adams family with their new addition of Max. Things are going really well with Max and Henry now, they are constantly playing and have us in stitches!
The rest of tonight will be spent chilling out eating leftovers and watching a film I think, we can't be arsed to do anything else although we did have the offer of going out for a Thai dinner, they're so good but we just can't! We'll do that at Xmas!!
