So the day finally came and I am now returned from the tour of a lifetime - yep Neighbours tour my friends and it was awesome!!
Was picked up at my hostel at 1pm this afternoon and have spent the afternoon with like minded Neighbours geeks. I won as the biggest loser of all by knowing the Scott and Charlene Wedding music in the first 2 seconds of it playing. Yep was labelled as the tour loser from that moment on.
On the bus you get to watch a couple of episodes as you drive to the location just to get you in the mood then you're taken to Erinsborough High School, an English language school but the tour are prepared with their own Erinsborough High sign that they attach to the fence for all picture opps. After a wonder around at looking at a school its back on the bus and they take you to the studio. Here the tour guide explains how cheap Neighbours producers are and how the outside of the studio will be used for various locations (check out the outside of the famous warehouse party roof collapse - yep just a studio!). I did
see the roof of Lassiters. Then we were taken to the area used at the outside of Carpenters Garage (inside is actually fully set up as a garage - very cool) Across from the garage is Grease Monkeys and does anyone else remember Marlene Kratz bric a brack shop well thats next door to Grease Monkeys. Then its the phone booth and the bus stop and sign. I was so over excited about this but then the most amazing thing happened. Dr Karl came out to say HI, yep I meet the legend that is Dr Karl, honestly the excitement factor was so high!! I have touched Dr Karl and talked to him about Snow patrol (he likes them and was listening to them on the way to work!) - awesome!!
When he left we then headed to the street itself and saw them filming some stuff, sadly it was raining so couldn't see much but who cares it was Ramsey Street people!! Its much smaller than it looks on telly and the houses seem to be in different positions, more set back than you think but there was a clear view to the all important Kennedy residence.
Bus Stop! You know you recognise it and you'd be excited and take a picture if you saw it too!!
In general one amazing afternoon and well worth my $40. I loved it but then I am a Neighbours geek. Hope you all like the photo's and the clear happiness on my face makes you chuckle - I'm not ashamed to admit it I am a total loser but this tour ROCKED!!
Warehouse Roof CollapseOkay so the cars are in the way but you can tell its where that whole thing was filmed. Love its just the outside of the studio!!
The Legend!!Me and Dr Karl - look how happy I am and how worried he looks.
The Legend 2!!Dr Karl looking less worried and me still looking stupidly happy. Just wanted to prove I didn't scare him that much!
Ramsey StreetThe sign says it all really - don't think you need me to explain this one!!
