Hey Bloggers,
These past few days have been great, sorry for not posting earlier, I haven't had much time to blog.
On Thursday, Tom took me to Queen Victoria Market. There were so many different kinds of shops; some sold food, clothing, souvenirs, etc. We had to get back early though as Tom had the afternoon shift at work. He was gone by 3:30pm. Kepas, Tom's step dad, was nice enough to take me on a tour of the area and the 10 different schools in Kew. This area of Melbourne has the highest concentration of private schools in the enitre world. Kepas showed me: Scotch College, St Kevins's College, Carey Baptist Grammar School, Xavier College and Trinity Grammar School, which I will be attending in the next few weeks. The tour was very fascinating and I learnt quite a bit about the area.
Friday was the first day of school at Trinity Grammar School, which is all boys. The change is a little bit different but you get used to it fairly quickly. The school itself is massive in comparison to Southridge, although in the area it is one of the smaller schools. We had no classes
on Friday, just a few assemblies and time for the boys to get settled into the new building. Trinity has been building a new area for a while now and it had just opened Friday morning, luckily it is where the Year 11 area is and I will be spending a lot of time in there. For lunch we headed to Ruyton Girls School, Trinity's sister school. These two schools have a unique relationship and in Year 11 and 12 you can take classes at either school if you so please. There are also many events in which both school's participate so both the boys and girls can get a feel for co-ed learning before University. After school two other Canadian exchanges and Tom and I went to Starbucks. I haven't had it in quite a long time, it was nice having something that reminded me of home. For dinner, some friends of Michelle and Kepas came over.
I slept in on Saturday. It was "grouse." When I awoke, I helped Kepas with some stuff around the house and Tom and I went to the gym for about 2 hours. We then had lunch and went to Victoria Gardens
to get some shopping done. I bought a few shirts but there weren't very many shops that interested me. Tom then had a basketball game against Kooyong, the game was very intense and finished in a tie. For dinner, Tom's parents were nice enough to take us to Lygon Street, the Italian District of Melbourne. Almost every single shop is a restaurant and of those 80% of them are Italian restaurants. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lively.
Today there isn't much planned, Tom is at work until 4:30pm so I'll just try to get some homework done for school. There isn't much else.
Thanks for reading,
Jake.
