Ok.. so last night wasn't just a case of sitting and watching TV. It involved a night out to the Crown pubs and bars with Danni - the lass I met on Moreton Island.
I rolled in just after 2am thins morning. So it was a 10am start today!
First port of call was Eureka Tower.
This is the tallest residential building in the world and is the only building with The Edge!
You stand in a box... and it moves out of the building so that it is 89 floors above the ground - on the outside of the building.
You can't see the ground - or out of the sides as the glass is frosted... Then... it clears!
4 inch glass is all that stops you falling down down down!
It was brill! And this building has 24 carrat gold plating on its top!
After lunch it was off to the MCG. Melbourne Cricket Ground. Recognisable by its flood lights and the fact it holds 100,000 people!
I went for a tour around the national sports museum. Until I got there and there were quite a few people there already...
Like 66,345 people! That was the match attendance for the Australian Football League match that I watched! ...kinda beats Latics!
There were 38 players on the pitch. 6 referees and loads of lines-men. People in bright yellow running on and off with tactic advice and guys in black with drinks!
It was CHAOS! The pitch was oval shaped and there were 4 quarters of 30mins each! They are damn fit!
Time to pack thhis evening - early flight to Cairns tomorrow and then I'll be topping up my tan after lunch!
Trumpets!
Arts CentreThere's one in Blackpool, Paris and Melbourne!
AFLAustralian Football League!
Pitch! The pitch is HUGE! With 38 players, 6 officials and running and kicking it needs to be!
2/3 full!Only two thirds full! 66000 people in the stadium which seats 100,000!
Hmm...What's going on here then!?
Part of trip:
Down Under 09!

Hi Ben
Can totally relate to size and scale of MCG. Was there Boxing Day 1998 as part of an historic entry in the record books. First day of the traditional Australia v England first day of the first test of the winter series. Why historic ? Because not a ball was bowled! it rained and rained and rained. First time ever a Boxing day game had to be called off. Talk about bad timing - and we never got back becaue of our schedule. So we sat there for 7 hours before it was finally and officially called off. We spent the whole time trading English/Aussie abuse with the natives, but all in good fun (yeh, right!). Don't know these fabulous buildings - think they've gone up in the past few years. And you're heading back to Cairns now; I'm looking forward to the next leg of your adventure.
Keep well - Kathx
