Finally have a chance to add another blog entry so here goes...
Had a fantastic time in Tasmania. Fiona and I hired a car for 4 days and first stop was Port Arthur on the Monday. It was a really interesting place, a former convict penal settlement. Went on the harbour cruise and stopped for a tour on the Isle of the Dead! Stayed nearby on the first night so we could go on the ghost tour, really spooky, especially the seperate prison. On the Tuesday we went back again so we could walk around some more (it's huge!!). On day 3 we headed to Hastings Caves and they were incredible. Afterwards we went for a dip in the hot springs pool. On day 4 we headed to Rosny to hit the shopping mall then went to the Cascade brewery. Pity I still hate the taste of beer!
Left Tasmania last Wednesday and flew to Melbourne. I LOVE IT HERE!!!!!!! The city is huge but pretty easy to find your way around as it's basically a giant grid system. Alan met us once we'd checked in to our hostel and showed us around a bit, including a trip to Federation Square. In the evening Fiona and I went to see Wicked at the Regent Theatre...AMAZING! At the interval we bought Ozmopolitans...green cocktails in a glass that lights up green (and a variety of other colours!)
So this is our sixth day in Melbourne. We've seen quite a lot of the city centre, but haven't really ventured much further out to be honest. The shopping here is incredible, the shops are huge and there's every store you could ever want. Today we're going to head to Chinatown I think so that should be fun.
The weather isn't so great and it's supposed to be cloudy and wet all week so we've just booked flights to Sydney. My tan has completely disappeared so in desperate need of some sun! We didn't get a chance to go to Bondi or any of the other beaches last time we were there so that's where we're heading. Probably go to Manly as well. Josie (one of our other friends from the OutbackPackers course) is flying in to Sydney on Wednesday so will be fantastic if we can meet up with her, then fingers crossed we'll hear about jobs.
So it's back to the airport for us...will blog again from Bondi! xx
