On our morning walk yesterday a prawn trawler just in was giving away samples -we bought some they were so nice (but Chris can't have any on his new special diet)
Hi everyone
We had a great 4 weeks in NZ catching up with as many family and friends as we could. It was great to spend time with the grandchildren (we did a lot of catch up babysitting!), and attend Robin and Bryan's 80ths and Rick's 60th birhdays.
We arrived back in Melbourne to fire smoke like a thick smog. Chris' Aussie credit card wouldn't work when we went to pay the taxi back to the caravan park (lucky we had enough cash), so the next day we went to the local bank and organised a replacement card.
With a week to wait for it, we decided to go south east to Lakes Entrance. We came here Wednesday, motorway most of the way for the first few hours. The smoke haze lasted most of the way, but we couldn't see any evidence of recent fires.
Lakes Entrance has Victoria's largest offshore fishing fleet, catching prawns, squid, scallops, and flathead, shark, salmon and whiting. There is a very narrow entrance to the sea, with strong rips. There are waterways with lots of nice places to explore around the lakes. We hired a little fizz boat on Thursday and putted around for a

Had a lovely few hours putting around the lakes
couple of hours in lovely conditions.
Yesterday we drove east to Bemm River, and explored our way back from there, including where the Snowy River meets the sea at Marlo. We had light drizzle some of the day, and after we got back to the van we got heavy rain!! The locals would not be used to that! There was lightning too, and we heard on the news there was a lightning strike on a plane at Melbourne airport. Today is back to blue skies again, but it is a bit cooler. Chris is out cleaning the van , first time he has been allowed as there is not the water restrictons down here. He has borrowed a ladder, and is getting quite carried away! (I washed the curtains and windows in Melbourne and we have packed away the net curtains - will try without them.)
We leave here tomorrow morning, and plan to spend a couple of days driving back to Melbourne via Wilson's Prom. After we get the credit card, we will start heading north east up the Hume Highway.
Great to be back on the road again, we look forward to some of you joining us along

Great kiwi break!
Super to hear and see you are back on the road. What a great collection of photos. Love the one of the grandkids together. Your month in NZ went all too fast. A pity about Chris's card. Give our regards to Wilson's Prom-it was blowing 50 knots last time we were there!! Happy travelin'.
