Sleep Deprivated.
Blummin Scots! Re-build that wall please!
Last night, as you will gather from the previous blog (When I finish it!) I had a few drinks.
Not by choice! Of course not. I was pinned to the bar and fed gin through a straw.
...so I got to bed at 1am.
I got up at 6:30.
Not good when you're on a massive double decker coach winding round the Great Ocean Road (GOR).
Really not good.
Yes. A huge double decker coach. Not quite what Gail and I were expecting when the brochure said 'small groups'.
We made our way up to Federation Square at 7:20 to find the ticket booth. Checked in and got on the coach.
Thankfully - for once - it wasnt me feeling that I was going to be sick! After three cakes, some crackers and a cup of Billy Tea, I wasn't feeling the best... but i managed to stay on the top deck as 'Jim' gave us a hair raising ride round the 1011 bends in the GOR. It was a 350mile trip that would see us returning at 8:20pm.
It was a
very long day and I do not recommend 'Grey Line' and their huge coach. This could have well been one trip where I would have been better renting a car between 2 or 3 of us and driving ourselves and then staying over somewhere. I know for next time!
Thankfully the weather held out for us. A bright start to the morning, a bit of fog in the forest and then overcast at the Apostles.
12 Apostles. Named this in 1950 because they didn't think anyone wanted to come and see the '12 Sour Pigglets'.
But there isn't 12. 15 is a better number... not 12... But then that's changing all the time as they are eroded away. That's sedimentary rock for you!
Whilst here I bumped into Louise & Jamie from last night... they got to sleep at 12... lucky pair!
We stopped off at a gorge as well - which was home to a shipwreck many moons ago. We had to suffer the Australian film on the coach home all about it.
It was great to see the road. Would be better to drive yourself to see what YOU want. But hey...
the trip should have been $150 and we got it for $82 because we booked the day before.... I'm not moaning!
Back at the hostel. Internet, dinner, TV and BED!
I think tomorrow will be a late start!
Trumpets!
Part of trip:
Down Under 09!

Hi Ben
Spectacular photo's. I'd have been more impressed if you hadn't dedicated an equal number of shots of Ramsey Street and a daft Stormtrooper accompanied by Yoda!
Try and do better when you get to Alice Springs and Ayers Rock - speaking of which, if you get into conversation with a Scottish Taxi Driver called Bill, tell him I've still got his card in my purse (he might give you a discount) - "Alice Springs Taxis - phone 131-008 Gets you a taxi anywhere, anytime"!
Keep well.
Kathx
This website only lets me upload 21 photos at a time, or I have to do them individually... so i've been choosing the best 21... AND what's wrong with YODA!?!
I can tell you are a maths teacher and not an English teacher "But there isn't 12" did you mean "but there are not 12" :-P xx
Isn't, aren't, there are not... 'am I bovvered?' x
