The September hols have Binangone.............during which time we went to visit 'Binalong Bay' and the 'Bay of Fires'up on the East Coast.
The hols began with my 36th birthday. I am starting to feel very old. This was a strange experience as throughout my life, my birthday has always been at the start of a school year. How nice it was to have it at the start of a holiday.
I know I have only worked three days a week but with caring for George, it is blinking hard work.
We had a great day. The weather was warm and sunny and we went out for the day..............just knocking around Hobart and seeing friends. We then spent a week at home, resting and doing jobs before heading off to Binalong Bay. Ivor had hoped to take a borrowed Canadian canoe which he attached to the roof of the car but after a precarious 7 miles or so - on what was a very windy day - we decided to ditch it at a nearby colleague's house. It started to sway and tilt which was very worrying when we were going at 100km on the highway! It was a bit of
a shame to have to leave it - but much better for my blood pressure.
We arrived 4 hours later in Binalong - a wonderful house just on the beach - the sound of the sea permeating the house. Our friends from Melbourne met us there with their 20 month old, Matilda. It was great to see them again. They are the nearest thing we have to family out here! The first day was quite stormy and the sea was amazing to watch. I have always been a little fearful of the sea- fascinated but also wary - it was incredible to watch the waves crashing into the rocks.
The rest of the week was fairly sunny. Ivor attempted to fish 4 times with our friend, Marcus but to no avail.....he caught nothing! We had lots of walks on the beach and I went running - a really amazing run along a path on the seafront. We were up quite early with George - he had a terrible run sleeping-wise. It was fantastic to see the sun rising over the sea as I was running along. We ate lots of fresh oysters and went on a couple of
short bush walks.
All too soon the trip came to an end and we had to come back. It was George's first day in childcare yesterday and we both, rather pathetically, burst into tears as we dropped him off. George, however, was 'happy as Larry' and when I went to collect him was propped up between two adults and three other children. He barely noticed me arrive as he was playing so happily!
The half marathon is only a couple of weeks ago - things are going ok - though am still trying to get a few sponsors for the Esther Benjamins Trust (Link : http://www.justgiving.com/sarahleonard1 )
I am now working Mon/Wed/Fri which is different but at least I get a day off and then a day on etc....
Only a few months and we will be making the trip home............hurrah !!!
