We still walk on Sundays, but it is not often we do a new walk. This week we tried the Little Kaiserstuhl walk near Tanunda This was a delightful 6.2 km in the Barossa starting at the Grant Burge Winery, with beautiful views and a section of the Heysen trail. The paths are wide and clear, with some paddock walking and some on the road. It is well sign posted and there is a pdf map available url=http://www.walkingtrailssupportgroup.org.au/documents/leaflets/LittleKaiserstuhlbrochureNov2009tmsnewrmnsmallerpics.pdfonline Our lunch picnic was on a log next to a ruin of a fireplace, mentioned in the brochure. A few showers of rain made for lovely panoramas, but getting wet was not that nice. Still it was gentle rain. Dan says... it was a great walk that reminded me of Ireland especially when the rain came. So what ... read more

No great rush to start the day, if you are going to tour the wine trail who wants to be “Sampling wine before lunch”? nope, neither of us!! We chose the “Self guided wine trail tour; this takes you around a lot of wineries and “Cellar Door” sales areas. We did set an aim to visit the Wolf Blass visitors centre, as well as possibly have an evening meal at one of the winery’s restaurants. Well even leaving and beginning at around 10:30am we went into the info centre in the town to check out any thing of further of interest, but chose to continue along the self guided tour. We decided the trail was not as clear as it could be as we followed the number 4 signs, they were faded and not very well ... read more

The visit to Adelaide being now complete with the concert, it was time to head to the Barossa Valley, to check out the home of Australian wine production. With only around 1.5 hour drive to our chosen destinaion (Tanunda) we had time to visit the outlet shops not far away from the caravan park. It was raining as we pulled into the car park, and we headed into the outlet shops. It was not crowded and we wandered at our leisure and found a Ray’s Outdoor outlet that had some good bargains for the recent “Grey Nomads” With our Latte’s and a banana bread under our belts as well as our “bargains under our arms," we ducked back to the van and loaded up. The drive out to the Barossa Valley was at times in heavy ... read more

Ruth and I decided to do the Tanunda to Kapunda walk today so we dove to Kapunda and left the car there before continuing on to Tanunda. We knew were to leave the car as we have walked here before. On leaving the main street at around 8.30 in the morning we walked down a hill and over a creek before following country roads through vinyards and farms. We saw a few lizards sunning themselves and the odd Kangaroo as we walked. We left the roads only briefly as we followed a track down a hill passed a telephone tower before crossing Stonewell Rd before heading back up hill past a winery before passing under a new overpass and making our way into Greenock. Greenock looks like a nice little town unfortunately nothing was open, the ... read more
