Well as you can imagine we were well hung over, but we hit the road early to headed towards the Great Ocean road. We had been looking forward to this day for ages. We drove foe about 3 hours before ariving at the Tweleve Aposoles, we parked up the car and dragged our butts under a tunnel to gain a better view. It was swamped with flies all they wanted to do was to fly into my ears, drove me mad, we did not stay for long.
We stopped at the shop and stocked up on liquid refreshments, and hit the road this part was quite enjoyable as the drive was mostly along the caost. We did not even bother to stop in Victoria, we just kept driving got our heads down in a cheep on site van just into the boarder of South Australia.
In the morning we headed of around 10am, we took it easy as the break had been making a bad sound all day yeaterday, 70k up the road we crossed the borader into Victoria again, yes we were driving the wrong way back up the high way. WHAY WOLLYS as you can emagine we
were well pleased with ourselfs for the next few hours ha ha. We just keeped driving and driving just stopping for fuel and food, it was so boring like playing a computer game and not getting anywhere, all we could see was road!!
Just past Adelade we stopped for fuel and thats when we noticed the hole in the tyre, so we stopped at Port Aurther and found a cheap backpackers room for $16 each we were the only ones in thier sweet. Not much sleep was had this night, as we did not know if the car would make it or if we had to scrap it, and we were only half way.
We took the car to the tyre shop at the Nissan Nomad had a new set of shoes and breaks, and we were back on the road by 11am. They were so lovely and helpfull there, 2 single girls needing help. Must of help lower the price as they only charged us $200.
This was the only part we were not looking forward to to much, as it is only has a few road houses along the way. We took it in turns to
drive to each road house, changing each time we came to one, We found this helped us stay more awake as it is so hot inland you sweat dry salty sweat we did not have a wee all day, we held onto our liquids needed to. We drove through WA boarder around sunset and changed our clocks which meant we had gained 2 hours. We drove until dark then got our heads down.
Today is the last leg of the long drive, we headed out at 6am, enjoying the cool morning after yesterys heat wave. It was a misty sky today and as we passed Norsman we could see lots of fire, yes it was a wild bush fire it looked so close. Julie & I decieded we would just keep driving so we did and arived in Perth at 8pm. SO PLEASED longest 4 days of my life.
We found out latter the fire we saw lasted for 4 days, so had we have stopped we would not have made it for new years eve SO LUCKY
