Having received excellent news about Robert’s recovery we headed off from Woomera on Monday 19thMay around 8:30 am. Needless to say he has recovered extremely well and is coming home today, 6 days, amazing. Before leaving we needed to get a replacement gas bottle, ours was empty, and decided to invest in another tub of a wonder product we discovered “Tru Blue Garlic Butter Spread”. Made in Maddington WA. Enormously expensive in Woomera but just in case... We headed to Pimba to top up the fuel tanks and bumped into Wayne’s mates from the Ulysses club again. Once on the road to Port Augusta we discovered we were roughly 150 kms away, we had not taken into consideration the 200 kms we travelled from Brinkworth to Port Augusta in our calculations of how far we had ... read more

Left Port Pirie on a cold miserable overcast day threatening to rain. As we moved north the cloud slowly cleared and when we got to Port Augusta it was lovely. We did not linger in PA as it is so close to home we can visit anytime but we need to pass through on our way home so maybe then. I really want to go to the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden here where I can get some more native plants for the garden and if I am brave enough to the Wadlata Centre. My issue with Wadlata is all about the very large 3D snakes with my phobia it could be difficult, but I will try. We were aiming for Point Lowly, you leave the Whyalla Road about 10 kms north and head 26 kms ... read more

We are spending a few days exploring the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, a region of the state we have never visited before. The Eyre Peninsula produces wheat and the majority of the States seafood. Port Lincoln, on the southern point, is well known for tuna and kingfish, while Coffin Bay has a thriving oyster growing industry. Our first two days were spent at Venus Bay, a location we fell in love with. Chris and Linda, the owner/managers of Venus Bay Caravan Park were very friendly and welcoming, making our stay a very memorable one. The weather wasn’t conducive to fishing, so we did a bit of sight seeing. We saw lots of Stumpy Tail Blue Tongue lizards, both dead and alive. They are big, slow things, not fast enough to get out of the way ... read more
