Hi folks, well today is all about work........grrrrrrrr. Have done BIG loads of washing and the ironing. (Actually Rodger did the ironing while I folded.) Cleaning the van and sorting out summer clothing that can now go. It is cold and raining here so it’s the ideal time to catch up on chores. This arvo I am going to bake a cake to get Rodger off my back and out of cake shops. It was lovely last night chatting to Cheryl via Skype (saves my phone bill). We are please the 2 new babies are doing so well. We both congratulate you and Jeff for moving into your new home and wish you happiness there. This morning I had a surprise Skype call again from my friend flo in Canada. Great to catch up on the ... read more

Hi all, today we had a nice day just driving and sightseeing right up the east coast of the York Pen and down the west coast to Adelaide. The York Pen is mainly agriculture –wheat and sheep, also copper. It is flatter than the Eyre Pen and has small towns every 40-50 klm. The beaches aren’t great, like ours, but there are plenty of pretty spots along the coast. Last night we stayed in a lovely caravan park at Marion Bay. We wouldn’t mind going back there one day and spend a week. Tonight we have set up in West Beach SA, which is just coastal to Adelaide City. We are staying in a 5 star caravan park. We believe we have deserved it with all our rough camping nights, WHICH we loved very much. This ... read more

Flying from Perth to Adelaide took 3 hours. It was Anzac Day (similar to Remembrance Sunday, but actively observed everywhere in Australia with marches and church services). We collected a more modest-sized campervan this time for our drive through South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, ending in Sydney (after about 3,000km). In Adelaide we met up with Ali from our Central American trip earlier this year, who looked as great as ever and we talked non-stop happily throughout lunch. After Ali & Adelaide, our next highlight was the Great Ocean Road, which has to be one of the most spectacular drives in the world. On the western half there are large limestone islands which are continually battered by the wild winds and the big seas of the Southern Ocean, so that the coastline is constantly ... read more

Campervaning in Aus Our 4 wheel adventure began! We picked up our Calypso Camper (a 99’ Toyota hightop with a lot of personality and miles on the clock) from a guy with a big moustache in Adelaide, he showed us round including the discovery of a red back spider in with our gas bottle, he sprayed it and said “you’ll be right” – no sleepless nights for us then! We drove down to Victor Harbour through some beautiful vineyards and spent our first night by the beach. We visited a wildlife sanctuary and Will had his first kangaroo encounter, they were big fellows close up and we nearly go overrun for our bag of Kangaroo food! The next few days were spent making our way along the coast before heading inland to the Grampians National Park. ... read more

So far, so good

OK- so this isn't real interesting, but just trying things out. We have made it safely to Adelaide (yes, that can be challenging) & are staying with Todd overnight. He will then take us to the airport in the morning- flight leaves at 11-30, so have to be there 2 hours prior....fairly civilised. Raymond isn't ready to have his photo taken yet, so will have to wait until Tues night before I get the chance to upload any- will spend most of the time travelling tomorrow. I think we get to Christchurch around 10-30 tomorrow night. Anyway time to go & see if this works....I think there is somewhere here that you can also add messages, so feel free to join in if you wish. Night all!... read more

Hi y'all, How goes it? I hope everything is well where you are and you've not overindulged on Easter eggs!! So, yesterday was an extremely quiet day - as I said everything was pretty much closed all day for the bank holiday so I just spent the afternoon at the hotel. I realised the reason I felt so crappy yesterday was that i'd only had 4 hours sleep at the Zoo and Lisa + Lack Of Sleep = DISASTER! Last night i ended up forfeiting dinner and going to bed at 7.30pm!! Had a lovely sleep though. So what have I been up to today? Well, I was picked up from the hotel this morning at 8.45 for a city tour of Adelaide. Was good to actually see it all and it was a little more ... read more

G'day Ladies and Gents How the devil are ya? Well, I've got to say I'm absolutely cream crackered. What a fantastic few days I've had since arriving and it really has been non stop. So last thing yesterday I was off to Taronga Zoo...... It did not disappoint! If you ever head to Sydney it's well worth considering. Arrived at the zoo - obviously I had the most luggage! Everyone else was from Sydney so literally had an overnight bag.. there's me large 20kg holdall, small suitcase and bag! Hilariousl Anyway, i was allocated tent 8, so we put our bags in the trailer and we began walking down to the campsite. Once there I made my way to tent 8.... it was clearly the one the furthest away from where we were AND the furthest ... read more

This trip to Adelaide was a small one. A girlfriend and I plus our two bubs had flown over for an old friends 40th....oh, dont tell her i said old hehe. We booked into a small apartment in glenelg right off the main drag but within walking distance to everything and there is certaintly everything you need on that main road. there is a shopping centre, alcohol shop, heaps of clothing shops and pubs and nightclubs. We were 2 blocks off the main street which just sopped hte noise of the drunkards in the middle of the night. April was a bit cold for the beach in adelaide but we went down to the jetty and looked around the art gallery there and the museum. Otherwise, for 2 days we met up with our old best ... read more

We couch-surfed in Adelaide with a lady who did not ask us one question about us, not once and I cooked all her meals and made her drinks and I did not get one thank you so a bit of a strange experience really! It rained quite a bit whilst we were in Adelaide but we tried to make the most of it; we walked 17km to town and back twice through a nice park; visited a really good food market, went to the Migration museum which was really interesting and visited the wine centre and botanical gardens; so quite a chilled affair. We then managed to get another relocation campervan deal with Wicked Campers so we set out towards the Great Ocean Road. This camper was so shit, not wicked at all and was nearly ... read more
