Kanagroo IslandThere are too many koalas on Kangaroo island. The rangers are sterilizing them. Ones with red tags are males,
I will have to go back and post some additional pictures, since upon review I did not post some of the better shots taken in and around Sydney; but we will hold this for a later posting.
On Febuary 1st we flew from Sydney to Adelaide. The entire week before, Adelaide and South Australia had tempatures of 40C+. In the summer time South Australians are accustomed to 40 C for one or two days but then a break with the tempature declining into the 30's but never a full week of 40C and higher. For the four days we were in Adelaide and the surrounding area the tempature ranged between 35C to 40C, still very hot particularly for a Canadian. Our Hotel was the Sebel Playford, just across the street from the casino and train station. On Feb 2nd we took off for Kangaroo Island on a small plane. We were met at the airport by our tour guide. Kangaroo Island is worth a visit and if you do go there are two options; you can take a large air-conditioned bus with 20 to 30 others or arrange for a smaller tour with a 4 wheel vechile. I would recommend

the latter; we visited a number of locations in which it would be impossible to take a bus, plus our guide walked with us and pointed out things and sights and provided agreat barbeque. This is possible with only 6 people. There was Mare and myself plus two other couples from Britain on our tour. In terms of sights we saw more than our share of wild Koala Bears, Kangaroos, Wallabees and Seals. With reference to seals, the males did put on somewhat of a show. A large male would come ashore and then begin to bully a smaller male which would then be forced to vacate its spot on the beach. It in turn would bully another male. The process would continue up and down the entire length of the beach. On Feb 3rd we did a tour of 5 wineries in the Borossa Valley. Naturally I had to sample the different wines. The next day was spent wandering around Adelaide and trying to find places with air conditioning. Adelaide also was the city in which we tried Kangaroo meat (best have it rare, little or no fat and if well done it would be like shoe leather), wallabee

and emu.
Move onThe larger seal is about to take a nip at the smaller seal to encourage it to vacate its spot on the beach
Our LoftOur hotel room in Adelaide was a large loft.
