After a year of being away, returning home to Australia was both sad and exhilerating. I loved France so much, but there really is something about returning home that makes you feel like you belong somewhere. The only problem about being home is getting sucked into the day to day routine of life.
I returned home in January, yet here I am posting this blog 8 months later. Why bother, you ask? Now that it's been 8 months, what does it matter if a post was forgotten? Well, it matters because I told myself that no matter how busy life became I would continue to see the world through a travellers eyes. After all, isn't Australia just as beautiful and unique as all those other countries I have visited, or those I intend to visit?
Being a traveller means that your eyes are open to all experiences; you actually take in the scenery, listen to the buskers, taste every new meal as if it were your first. It could be said that people travel just so they can take the time out to appreciate life. Well, now that I am once again back home, working, paying off my travelling
debts and finishing my degree, I need that outlook more than ever. I need to appreciate this beautiful place for what it is, rather than let myself be swallowed by the daily grind.
Having JB come back to Australia with me has made it easier to see Australia through a travellers eyes. It was great to pass through Adelaide on the way back to Sydney, to show him where I grew up and all the places I loved. Dry, brown, tiny ol' Adelaide will always be my hometown, and no amount of travelling and no matter where I live will ever change that.
