Some people write amazing things on their transport!

Day 8 Sunday 10th July 2011 Moura to Clermont

Drove north from Moura, through Rolleston and on towards Springsure. We stopped at the Staircase Range lookout, where it was bright with sunshine but only 12 degrees – the wind was bitterly cold. There were sweeping views of the range and the plains back towards Rolleston, Today’s drive generally, and this view in particular, have put me in mind of Banjo Paterson’s Clancy of the Overflow..... “and he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended”. Though I think this part of Queensland is probably more hilly and undulating than where “Clancy’s gone to Queensland droving and we don’t know where he are”. In reading back through our trip book tonight I noticed that the famous Clancy actually came from near Willie Station in the Macquarie Marshes, where we were just a few days ago.
