Road out of TUlly
Does that mountain look like it's leaning to one side to you?
Another stationary week in Tully with nothing much happening. If you’re after a Travel Blog and not a diary don’t read this. 30th April Help Julie unpack from their weekend away and she suggests asking in the computer store in town to see if they need help. They don’t.
1st May Trip to Innisfail with Allan and Mary, I buy a toothbrush. Plan to take a walk around Tully for something to do in the afternoon. Get a text from Julie telling me Ando has work for me.
Work 12h30 – 17h30 – digging a tunnel under the Red Cross centre and putting a roof on somewhere else.
2nd May Up and ready by 07h30, though Ando doesn’t think he’ll need me until nine. I sit on his lawn with my book from 08h30 to 10h30 waiting for him.
Work 10h30 – 18h30 putting a tin roof up. Mary is stopping over Allan’s tonight so a hot dinner as soon as I get out of the shower.
I'm sore and tired. I have a quick look for software jobs in South Africa after something Annie (girl I met in

3rd May Work 06h30 – 17h30 putting on the rest of the roof from yesterday. Ando says his normal crew will be back next week so
no more work for me. Allan has dinner on the table for me when I get in and I steal a ride from Julie to buy a carton of fruit juice from town.
Life is one big adventure 4th May Walk into town to return a library book. Stop along the way to help clear Allan’s garden of fallen trees. Search the internet for software work in Australia or Africa. Send off a couple of CVs and get a phone call about on of them about an hour later.
Maybe it'll lead somewhere? 5th May Awake at early o’clock so we can head north to
Cairns. Mary introduces me to her other daughter, Lisa (25). She’s a lot nicer and more sociable than her half-sister. I like her, even if she is training to be a copper. A shopping trip, out for pizza and DVDs. I do card tricks

for beer.
6th May Say goodbye to Lisa and we come back the scenic route via the
Table Lands; lots of trees, lots of lakes and lots of bendy roads. A few stops along the way to take photos, drink tea and eat pie.
Julie says there’s work in Lancelin (Western Australia) so I look at flights to Perth. There’s one tomorrow from Cairns or I’ll have to wait a another week.
