18.1.12

Bus to Surfers Paradise, our first impresions were totally different to that of Byron Bay. There was high risers for a start, which was a shock. It was like a small city. The hostel was nice but as we were staying for 5 nights we got put into the workers dorms. It was right on the beach and there was a small pool aswell. There was a backpackers night out organised which we decided to go on. It was $30 and you got entry to 4 bars and a free drink. We had a good night and got to know a lot of people in the hostel. We decided that the spirits were watered down as we were near enough sober on the walk home.

Hooray its sunny! We took full advantage of this and was on the beach early. The waves were massive! They were throwing me about everywhere and it was dangerous to go too far out. We were on the beach until it got too windy and started blowing the sand on us. We headed back to the hostel where we chilled by the pool for the rest of the day.

Went to Wet'n'Wild water park today. It was a nice morning so we got there for when the gates opened. It was the school holidays still so was full of kids but we went on every ride and was there all day. We had to queue upto an hour for some of the rides but they were well worth it. It was a proper water park with loads of inflatable rides and a wave pool. There was even a roller coaster ride! We saw our first snake aswell in the bushes as we queued up for a ride. We got back the hostel shattered and starving so we had noodles and cheese on toast..mmmmm backpackers dream!

Why we have decided to do a blog is to have a backup of all our memories while we travel the world for eight months. The fact that we will probably lose our diaries, our cameras and memory sticks we will have this to fall back on. Plus it saves us both writing separately to our family members and blocking up Cathy´s facebook wall!!... full info
