Once we crossed the stateline into Queensland we had to put our watches back an hour. Quite strange having a time change when you are still in the same country! Not sure how many time lines there are in Oz, i should really find out! We stopped off at the Gold Coast for four nights and chose Surfers Paradise as our base. I could've stayed there for weeks, it was brilliant, so much to do and the beach was beautiful. You will start to see a trend in my blogs, i talk about the beaches all the time, i simply love it! We stayed at the Cheers Backpacker Inn. It wasn't too bad but it was the only place we could get accommodation!
The first day we arrived we went to the Haunted House. I can't believe how much i screamed going through that! I love the thought of scary things but once i was in there i actually hated it! You should've seen the three of us, it was hilarious! I couldn't even stand up straight cos i was scared of things touching my head! The scariest part was when you had to move from room to room and
it was pitch black, noone would go first and eventually brave Jill stepped up (well actually me and Becky pushed her first).
Our first day was quite tiring with travelling and screaming so we were looking forward to our beds. The bed had to be the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept in, the mattress was about 3 inches thick. We must've been in bed for about half an hour when another 3 girls came in expecting to go to their beds, but guess what we were in them! The stupid receptionist had double booked the room. Reception was now closed and there was no night manager to call so there wasn't much we could do but i definitely wasn't giving up my bed! One of the girls that worked in the hostel stayed there too and gave us a spare mattress so the 3 aussie girls slept on that! We did get a free bbq because of the hassle but it was quite funny actually!
The Gold Coast is home to Warner Brothers Movie World so obviously we had to go there! We arrived before the gates were even open. As soon as we got in
we went on the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. Now we thought it was classed as one of the family rides but it was actually one of the thrill rides. Jill isn't keen on things like this but we assured her it would just be like a ghost train that you get at the carnivals back home. I was screaming on it and i love things like this so you can imagine how poor Jill was! When we eventually got off Jill was actually shaking with fear! We then headed to the Wild West Water Ride. Jill decided to sit this one out. It was brilliant but we got absolutely soaked and then went back for seconds! Shrek 4D was amazing. Batman 2 was good too but it was a simulator which makes me feel rather sick. It gives me the same feeling as reading in a car or bus. We also saw a stunt show was great. The best ride of all had to be Superman Escape. It lasted about 1 minute and i had my eyes closed the whole time! I have never been so scared in all my life. I just can't explain what it was like but
when we got off we actually had to hold eachother up. It was a fantastic day!
Our last day at Surfers Becky headed off to the beach while me and Jill had a look around the shops. We went to Coles so Jill could get a few things. I picked up a creme egg but then decided i didn't want it after all so i put it back. I then headed out of the supermarket and left Jill to pay for her things. This old guy dressed in casuals came up to me and produced his card and said he was security. "You were eating chocolate in the shop and never paid for it" was what he said to me! Excuse me, i certainly was not. I picked up chocolate and put it back but i definitely did not eat any. I had chewing gum in my mouth but certainly not chocolate! I'm not sure if he believed me or not but he eventually gave up and went away. I know i'm a poor backpacker but i can still afford $1.28 for a creme egg if i want it!!
We arrived in Brisbane yesterday. It's very, very hot
and humid but it has been raining too. We need to start looking for work now. Just gonna get some fruit picking.
covered in sandthe sand is a good exfoliator but it gets in places that it shouldn't be!
