Hi all
We are now back in Scarborough. We drove Allen and Marijke to the airport today at Brisbane. They have spent the last 8 days with us, exploring north as far as Bundaberg. We had 3 nights at Maroochydore, then 3 nights at Hervey Bay, with their 1st and last nights here at Scarborough. We have done almost 2000 km with them, and had a great time, although the weather could have been warmer and sunnier! We did a trip into Bribie Island on the way to the Sunshine Coast, and visited Jill and Phil on the way to Moochydore. After exploring the beaches , and looking at Phil's new yacht, we headed inland to the Hinterland, looking accross to the Glasshouse Mountains. We drove to Maleny and Mapleton, doing several walks including one to the Kondalilla Falls lookout. The next day we headed up to Noosa, doing the walk out to Noosa Heads. We crossed on the ferry from Tewantin and did all the tracks we could at the southern end of the Great Sandy National Park. (the tide was too far in to go up the beach there). Had a game of minigolf at sunset which was fun

Just back from the airport with Allen and Marijke Moore
at the caravan park.
On Wednesday we headed up to Hervey Bay, via Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach . The walk to the beach at sunset was again worthwhile, with lovely skies. The next day, after booking our ferry crossings for Fraser Island, we drove back to explore Maryborough, then up to Bundaberg. We found the Rum distillery, did a look around and had the tastings!! Allen helped out with Chris' share.
On Friday we had an early start to get the ferry to Kingfisher Bay and spent the day exploring Fraser Island. It was a super day, the sand tracks were "interesting", we crossed over to the east coast and drove up the beach as far as the Maheno wreck, then south as far as Dilli Village. Leaving the beach there we had to take 2 goes as the sand was very soft. We drove back up the Southern Lakes Scenic Drive with soft sand tracks, then back out to the west coast at Wanggoolba Creek to meet our ferry at 5pm for the crossing back to the mainland.
Yesterday we drove back to Scarborough, stopping at Eumundi for lunch on the way. We had a quick walk
through the markets there.
Before the Moores arrived we had spent two days with our friends Trevor and Margaret Seib, who are living (between house sitting jobs) nearby at Redcliffe. We walked accross the new bridge walkway with Margaret (Trevor dropped us off and met us from the other side, about 3km away). We walked down onto the fishing platform, complete with fish cleaning tables etc, all stainless steel. It was good to catch up with them again.
Tomorrow we head north again, to Caboolture, where the van will be serviced, then on to Mudjimba for 3 nights. There we will catch up with Rowan (who helped us get our car)and Jan, and Chris and Kurt (who know each other from Sailability) Then it is on to Cairns.
Regards
Lynne and Chris
