TIN CAN BAY _ DOLPHIN FEEDING

We took a drive up to Tin Can bay when Jaquie was visiting us on holiday as we had heard that you can feed the wild dolphins early in the morning so off we went to do just this. we booked into the campground and had Fish and Chip shop for dinner eaten out under the sky/shelter as it started to rain on us. but it was lovely and really not that cold. We all snuggled down for the night and then got up early to wal the 100 metres to the small jetty to see and feed the dolphins.
Whenwe got to the jetty, there was only a couple of people there was all chatted to the guides and slowely the family of dolphins came in to greet us. Firstly the one of the young males came in then the oldest male whom was incharge of them all. then a female and a young baby dolphin came in.
We were told there are a large family of them but the oldest male only lets some come in to see people.
they started coming to Tin can bay jetty a few years ago when the old one was injured quite severly and was helped back to health by the people who lived in the area so since then he has come back everyday with some of his family to eat and greet everyone as they know it is safe.
The guides are very strict on not feeding them all to much as they are still wild dolphins as there main food source must still be from the wild, like fish and clams.
After a while we got into the shallow water and the dolphins came up to us and greeted up some more, they were really inquisitive and i put the camera under the water and took some photos up close. We then all got given a small fish and one by one we fed the dolphins. This was a wonderful experience and was so nice to see the bond these dolphins had with the people whom had cared for and helped to bring back to health the older dolphin. It was so amazing to see dolphins up close and still be so free. Truelly Magical Experience
