Continues 35 deg. Went on an aboveground mine tour today. Very worthwhile.

Mount Isa Mines

They dig up copper, lead, silver and zinc in vast quantities. Each year they take out about 6.2 million tonnes of copper ore and 5.1 million tonnes of lead-zinc ore.

Does not look that big in the photo but towered over the big bus that we were in. Lots of these are driven by young females.

Open cast mine.

They have recently started digging out this mine which will go to a depth of 800metres.

Copper pour.

Molten copper being poured to make ingots which are about 98% pure copper.

A just poured one.
