What continues to amaze us when we go on a days exploration to discover new areas of south east queensland is how quickly we leave the suburbs behind and drive into wide open expanses of countryside and mountain scenery, where the road stretches for miles ahead of you and is interspersed with the occasional small town or farmstead perched on the top of a hill.
