scary creatures and bald mens heads!

Ok I dont mean to moan I know Im in a beautiful place and all, but Im already done with everything feeling damp grr! Its not pleasant and Im unsure as to why anyone lives here expecially in the wet season. Anyway I left my room this morning after a restless night spent sharing with 5 foreign girls (possibly German & Swedish but could quite easily be mistaken on both accounts), one of whom seems to be suffering a severe case of smokers cough or some such ailment resulting in insanely loud choking at ungodly hours of the morning! (ok realised Im sounding like a grump but stick with me it gets better I promise.

I caught the shuttle bus into the city and had a coffee while I read through half a tree of brochures all telling me they were the best and cheapest and if I didnt hand over my money to them I would regret it for the rest of my days (or some advertising whizzyness to that effect). After I was feeling utterly bamboozled I found my way to the Cairns Wildlife Dome, and had my picture taken holding Bailey the Koala bear, soooo cute but you can tell he was not thrilled about being woken from his 20 hour a day sleep (yes they sleep that long), to be held by a pom for 10secs and have a flash go off in his face was not his idea of fun.

I learned a bit about lizards and stroked a snake and went on a feeding tour in which a half tonne saltwater crocodile devoured a chicken wing on a piece of string with more force than was completely neccessary i thought. oh and petted a lizard with a blue tongue to (man there are some freaky creatures in this country!

Sat by the lagoon (purpose built swimming pool next to the beach as people cant swim in the sea due to stingers) and checked out the fruit market, and the shops (souvenir shop...dive centre...souvenir shop...dive centre....you get the picture).

Spent the remainder of the day figuring out my next few days...this is definataely going to be harder than I thought eek! Oh but I also donated $10 to a guy who worked at the hostel who was shaving his head for the Leukaemia Foundation (told him about you Rich he says congrats on the good result).

Tomorrow...the rainforest...
