My great grandfather arrived here in 1864 from Norfolk, England. Maryborough was a busy port in those days.
I started to feel better on Tuesday and so we went for a bit of a walk around town, playing tourist. I especially like the local botanical gardens and the park lands that have been developed by the river in the last few years. When I was a kid this area was pretty tatty. Later in the day I took the 2 small dogs for a long walk - they were very quiet when they got home.

Now we are sitting in the departure lounge at Brisbane airport waiting to board our flight in another hour and a bit. We take off at 2:30 in the morning. It'll make it easier to sleep I hope. Our next entry will be from Istanbul.

A number of the old buildings in this area have been renovated and look quite nice. The blue building is now a military museum and the brick buildings are the old Harbour Master's residence which is now a very pleasant restaurant

I'd never really noticed how spectacular the trunks and limbs of these big old trees are.
