July 27,
I have decided to really slow it down and just do an afternoon horseback ride. Then that leaves the evening open and the morning open to sleep in a little resort my things. Plus I have not yet had a night out I have been so tired that it just wasn't going to happen.
The trip to the horse farm takes over an hour cause we have to go up the coast to pick people then drive back down. But we finally get there and I love to ride horses. It's a great match from the start. Alfie my horse was an outback mustang who was caught and put on the farm. So my wild nature fits real good with Alfie. He's a silver with a little black and not quite an Arabian stallion, but he's fiesty.
I know we could do some wicked things on the trails. However there is 2 big problems and 2 little ones. The big problems are the 2 dads here with their daughters don't know how to ride and have no idea how to control a horse. The 2 little problems are the 2 little girls who are too small
to control a horse. So we spend over two hours of waiting for these problems to pull there horses away from the trees and bushes. Not a fun ride for some one who knows how to ride. The only other person there was a Belgium teen who was a good rider and we had to get our horses reined in and not able to let then go like they wanted too. The trail was also very steep hills covered in rocks that the horses had to go slow but there were times when a little trot would have been fun.
The best time of the day was to feed the kangaroos. They ate right out of my hand and would take a little nip that would produce a little ouch from me but nothing that bad. Three of the females had joeys but none wanted to show themselves. There were 2 males in the pack and the owner said that if they start to fight get out of their way!!!
The ride home was winding and I fell asleep and would only wake when I cracked my head on the window and I remember saying ouch but then
Joey, Joey
Come out from where ever you are!! went back to sleep this happened several times. When a knock in the head can't wake me then I must be tired.
The evening revolves around dinner at the Green Ant, a Mexican place right around the corner. Then a visit to the Casino. The nachos that I had were very good but I could only eat half of them and the beans were way to spicy for me. The casino is down by the beach and about a 15 minute walk. It's a little larger than expected with blackjack, roulette and slots. I only play the slots. The problem was they were basically the same machine with different pictures on them, very boring. All had cards AKQJ10 then various wild cards. But I did play of few of them. Mostly 1 cent and 2 cent machines. But I bet the max which is .50 cents a pull. I did hit a big jackpot of $30.00 but put it all back in. So I was having fun for a few hours and cost less than any other thing I have done in Cairns.
I walked home after dark and didn't have a problem at all even though I
couldn't take the short cut through the mall at this late hour. A nice snuggle in a cozy warm bed and off to sleep. What a fantastic place to holiday, the best beach town ever!!!!!!

Leaving Cairns this afternoon and flying back to Sydney.
I sleep in and then get up and back my stuff and put it in storage and back to town for the last time. I decide to indulge in a gourmet breakfast of Vanilla, Pear, Raspberry French toast. AWESOME! So fresh and the pear was freshly cooked to perfection.
I can't leave with out hitting the souvenir shops for one last time. I know! I don't have any room. But I always make the room!
SoI buy one little sack of stuff and I stop at the Healthy Habits fast food place and get a ham and cheese wrap for lunch and back to the hostel to await my transport to the airport.
John the Welshman and my favorite crew member of the Traveler's Oasis comes and chats with me while I wait. He is a wanderer too and loves to travel we talk about traveling!!
A three
hour flight and an hour and a half train ride I am once again back at Francine's and Frangie is once again about to emerge on the travel scene.
So stay tuned for 2 Blondes on Holiday with a guest Karen Ross ( a friend of Francines who is traveling to Papua New Guinea too!).
