So after the luxury of a cosy night in Bundaburg, it was back in the musty van, continuing our way down south (stopping to get a snap next to the giant bottle of Bundaburg rum on the way). We trundled to the sunny little town of Rainbow Beach, home of the bright coloured sands and overpriced caravan parks. The reason for stopping in this seaside town was a trip to Fraser Island. We had originally booked ourselves on a 3 day camping trip, in a 4x4, before the weather took a nasty turn. So we asked if we could change it to a day trip (we thought 3 days in a water logged tent would be pretty miserable). We were picked up the next morning by a 4x4 bus (like an army truck), along with 20 ... read more

Day 21 Off to the wildlife sanctuary we go, currumbin sanctuary that is. And what an amazing place it is. A wide variety of animals on display and if you look hard enough you can even find your share of spiders and birds not on the list, Right upon entering you end up at the koala station where you can pay to hold one and have your picture taken, we opted to just take a few snaps from the fence. They sure look cuddly, that was Jackie’s favourite part. Both Jackie and Sean enjoyed getting up-close and petting the kangaroos though, I would have to say that was a very neat experience. After another hour of walking we seen some very healthy looking dingo’s and stopped in at the reptile show. Everyone was having a great ... read more

Day 16.5 continues... The adventures of Matt and Sean .....Lots of beautiful scenery and they got some good pictures of some wildlife. Birds and they even got lucky and seen a huge lizard. They both agreed that they had an excellent day and Matt can’t wait to be able to take me there to show me around the place… he even told me they kept off one of the routes so that when we all go it is new to all of us. What a sweetheart! LOL. We had some dinner and then we all got ready to go check out the night life in surfers. We met up with the Swiss girls and headed to the bar. We had some drinks and did some dancing although we couldn’t get Matt on the dance floor. A ... read more

Day 9 Saturday we ended up going out for a nice walk after sleeping in till 8am… this is killing me. Lol. We went for a walk to Burleigh Head national park, about a 5km each way walk. And it was hot out to. But very enjoyable and the scenery was worth it. Lots of nice little shops for Jackie to stop and look in along with allowing Sean to find himself some new sunglasses. The point offered a chance for some nice views from about 50 feet above the ocean. I will allow the photos to do the talking on this one. Very worth the stop to look at. Day 10 Sunday we took it easy, went for a nice little swim in the morning, the rip was bad today, and it no longer says ... read more

We returned from Africa (unemployed and homeless hahaha) with 6 days left before the final leg of our amazing adventure. It had been 17 months since we flew out of New Zealand on the 1st March 08 and it is time to return. Its just about as scary returning, as it was leaving because you suddenly realise that you still have a mortgage, your unemployed and a little older than when you left the comfort of your stable job, to explore the world. We were too busy in London to dwell on our fears. There were places in London we hadn't seen, accounts to close and friends to farewell. The London transport system is brilliant, off the plane, on the train, 10 minutes walk and we're home. Well back to El's and Michael's at Morton Way, to ... read more

14/1/09 = A hot day at Burleigh Heads Woke up early as usual and stirred in bed from 6am until 7am. Impossible to get back to sleep because Canadian, in bed near mine, was snoring like Thomas the Tank Engine and also talking to himslef. In that hour, contemplated lots of methods to silence him, but settled with putting my fingers in my ears; that way, none of us got hurt. So glad when Hat got up just after 7 and so did English guy Alex. Hate being awake on my own and have never like Thomas the Tank Engine. Got some breakfast, then all went to eat outside. Chilled and chatted for a while, then came in and got ready for day. Had already planned to visit Burleigh Heads because Claire (part of the lovely ... read more

Nov 10 Sydney to Cessnock Travel day. Very low key. Called a couple of people to make visiting arrangements. We are in the Hunter Valley. Wineries!!! Dominos pizza for supper. $11.00 for a large. Nice!! Nov 11 Hunter Valley Visited a few wineries today. McWilliams. Really nice tour of the winery McGuigan. Good wine and we had a pretty good cheese tray for lunch. Piggs Peake. Nice wines (don’t think we found any bad ones). We were the only ones there, so the part owner took us in back for some special tastings. Some of the reds that won’t be on the market till June of next year. At $90.00 per bottle. Sure would be nice to afford this wine. Absolutely fantastic. Two wines actually. We then went to a place where we could taste wines ... read more
