Woke up to another beautiful, hot day and the girls could not resist a morning dip in the pool after breakfast. Caught up on some house-keeping and went into Cooktown for some sight-seeing. Decided to head north via the Battle Camp Road. The map stated this was a gravel road but the corrugations were shocking. The dust holes did not help and to top it off, there was a bicycle race on. Stopped at Isabella Falls for lunch and we had a legless visitor. Sasha spotted a thin, but long snake munching on a lizard. Don’t know what type of snake but it was at least 1.5m long and brown. When it was still, it looked like a tree branch.

Continued on this shocking, dusty dirt road until we came across the Hann Roadhouse. Decided to stop for some ice cream and we were greeted by an emu and a peacock. Sasha did her best to approach these beautiful creatures with no luck. Had our ice cream and Sasha was lucky enough to win a free paddle pop but she was disappointed when the shop keeper would not honour her win. Anyway, decided to continue on until
