Kuranda Scenic RailwayThe railway has quite an interesting history and was quite an engineering feat - through hand-carved tunnels, over very steep bridges and through the rainforest.
WaterfallsThrough the open windows of the train you get unobstructed views of the rainforest and waterfalls.
Tribute to the EngineersThe railway was built between 1882 and 1891 (15 tunnels, 37 bridges, 328 m elevation) and many people lost their lives building it.
Map of KurandaThe map shows all the walks and points of interest but there really was no way we were going to get lost.
Barron RiverA view from the cable car of the Barron River which runs through Kuranda.
Cable car through the canopyIt was so fun gliding over the rainforest in the cable car. It had a window so you could stick your head out....but you weren't supposed to!
