The sun decided to find us recently so weve been lacking on the blog side, so now here is a long but very compact entry of the recent happenings.....
Rest of Sydney...
We went on our trip to the Blue Mountains which was pretty awesome, although very cold indeed! Firstly our tour guide was a typical australian tour dude, with the strong accent and tour guide beige hat, so he added lots of amusement to our trip! We stopped off at some wildlife park, where we got to see some kangeroos - unfortunatly no big 6ft ones, but one did have a baby one hanging out its pouch - unfortunatly kelly couldnt fit in one of their pouches like we had hoped. Other exciting creatures included the crocodile, flying foxes, dingos (basically dogs..), snakes etc.. luckily the creepy crawlies were behind glass so couldnt attack us!! We stopped off at a view point on the way to the blue mountains that looked out onto the Three Sisters Mountains and the Valley..it went on for miles, it was pretty amazing, the cameras couldnt even capture it. bloody windy up there though, nearly got blown over the edge. When we got to the actual blue mountains, we got the worlds steepest railway train thing down into the valley and walked around the rain forest part and then the cable cart back up. This was before the sun had met us so we spent a lot of the day in the rain and wind...just like england :-(
We also visited Bondi Beach, but once again we were visited by the wind and rain, and an empty beach. We stuck it out for as long as possible before the cold got the best of us, nice little area but im sure it would be ten times nicer with sun!! In the evening we walked along harbour bridge which was awesome, the views at night oft he opera house and harbour all lit up are amazing, so pretty. We met some random security guards along the bridge who had the joyful job of standing there all night watching cars go by and all they had been provided with was an umbrella...useful!!
Newcastle...
The next day we set of early for what we thought would be an exciting trip to Newcastle!! Our lonely planet books had described in a positive light and compared it to Newcastle in England, emphasising its nightlife. They either lied or we hadnt arrived in Newcastle...! It seemed pretty dead and more for old people bingo! Found one of the few hostels there, and wondered around before we got attacked by the rain once again! met a few of the local wierdos on the bus to the supermarket. We got some wine and prepared for our ig night out after recently learning its more of a pub town than a club town...joy!! anways we headed out to a bar and a local small club with a few others from the hostel, where we found out they have drink restrictions after 10pm! no shots, doubles or cocktails allowed, they wouldn even let u order a vodka n lemonade seperalty as leanne found out - continued to find it hilarious of their talk of no thongs in the clubs - why not just say flip flops, but it kept us amused throughout the evening. Our night was pretty alcohol fueled with raving in a trance room with a load of pill heads before we strolled back. Next day we decided to hire the bikes off the hostel (bcos we
e cool like that) and looked extremely sexy in the helemts as its illegal not to wear them over here! Went along to Nobbys Point and Nobbys Beach and finally found some SUN!! so sat around for a bit and bumped into a dude from our hostel who is a massive resemblance to Doofus or Doofy off scary movie! He was a right wierdo, and created a lot of amusement and jokes for us all throughout the next week. We had booked an overnight bus up to Byron Bay so we just hung about at the hostel passing time before our extremely luxurious and comfortable night ahead of us... We were sad to leave doofus....but not Newcastle...lol.
Byron Bay....
The next morning we arrived somewhere we liked the look of. A very surfer like village / town which we knew wed like! We had no idea where our hostel was, and were not looking forward to the trek with our bags that had seemed to have grown and weighed more! Lucki8ly for us, some girl was clever enough to book the free shuttle bus from our hostel so we jumped right on. We were too early to check in, so we trotted off for a walk along the beachm, 45 seconds walk from the hostel, and went for a fry up. We were a bit scared about entering our room, as you never know what to expect when you enter the hostels..good or bad! We were greeted by 7 guys fast asleep and a whif of stink!!! Great! :-S we dumped our bags and trotted off to the beach for the sun and waves! We just chilled most of the day, and got a bottle of wine for the evening at the hostel. although, the hostel had a kick out time of 1030 from the lounge area...bit crap! and it was a sunday night so no-where really open.
As we had had a lovely early night last night we decided to spend the day on the beach n work on that all important tan we have been hoping for!! well...the beach was nice n warm n relaxing but it wasn much fun to get absolutely caked in sand from the wind so we only stayed there for an hour which was long enough for us! we decided on a walk to the lighthouse which looked a lot closer than what it was!! we managed to stop half way for an ice cream n coke in a heavy old glass bottle!! we stopped on the way at the most easterly point of mainland.then the lighthouse was a few metres away, we decided to chill there for a bit n do a spot of whale watching but we didn see any unfortunately!! we then started the decent down...leanne counted we did 378 steps which was great fun!!! we also managed to see our first wild creature which looked like a snake with legs! we threw sticks at it to make it run but it didn work.
we met charlotte n nick n headed into town...had another good night in cheeky monkeys n met loadsa people from the hostel...lots of drinkin n dancin n once again no shots allowed...although we managed to get a jagerbomb!
we spent the next day on the beach and waited for our bus to surfers paradise..had a great journey to the bus stop in a sexy a reg car with a couple of dutch guys!! small yet cosy!
anway were bored of writing now so next time we find free net we shall update.
goodbye all peace out!!
xxxxxxx
