I guess you were expecting to hear about my fishing trip but unfortunately it was cancelled due to high winds. This is the second time that I have had a trip cancelled for this reason. I was a little disappointed but did not let it ruin my day. Instead of fishing, I went to one of the local noodle bars and ordered the Mee Gee Seafood box which was incredibly delicious. It had prawns, tofu, squid, scallops and peppers with a very unique and tangy sauce covering the thick hokkien noodles. There was a wine store not too far away so I decided to pair the seafood dish with a nice Australian white, a Semillon-sauvignon blanc (Yalumba 2007). The wine had very crisp flavors and went quite well with the seafood and the tangy sauce. It turned out to be not such a bad day after all because I ended up drinking that whole bottle to myself. I felt particularly piggish because we went to Sunny Bank Hills which is home to quite a few Asian restaurants. We stopped in at Little Singapore because Nick likes the food there and we both had dishes that were very interesting. Nick had a
Malaysian seafood dish and I had a seafood soup that was a totally new experience for me. It had at least five kinds of seafood in it including fish and abalone. It also had noodles, cilantro, chili peppers and lemon grass…very exotic indeed. Anyway, that’s enough about food.
Nick and I have plans to fish tomorrow, so we’re hoping that we don’t get cancelled again. I also took the extra time to work on the Popsicle stick rollercoaster that Nick and I have been trying to finish. We finished it last night and it turned out really well I think especially since it was our first attempt. I’ll post some pictures so you can see what I’m talking about.
Today was Nick’s last day of his teaching practical at the school, so we brought the rollercoaster in to show the kids in the year 8 class. Unfortunately the glue holding the coaster together melted in the intense heat of the car on the way and it didn’t work as planned, but the kids liked it anyway. We hope that they will learn from our mistake and not leave theirs in the car too long. Our rollercoaster had a

loop-d-loop, a downward spiral, two camel’s backs and a turn, so it was pretty cool. Nick showed me around the school and it was vastly different from any high schools in Canada. You have to walk outside to get to different classes and they have snorkeling class. Nick knew quite a few of the teachers and students and they all wished him well on his journey back to Canada and he seemed to have a good rapport with them all. They call him Mr. C and they called me Mr. Mars. It was really interesting to see the different learning environment and I have to say that I prefer schools in Canada. That will conclude my blog entry for now and I hope that I can post pictures of Nick and I holding fish tomorrow. G’day.

You made that out of popsicle sticks? That's quite impressive dude. If only you used a glue with a higher melting point though...
I needed an engineer to help me choose the proper binding medium with a good modulus strength and high melting point...I don't know if that makes sense but it sounds good. By the way, I kicked ass at the science fair in elementary school, but my dad always helped me cheat!
