Days 103 - 105: Thursday 17th. August 2006: Sunny: Packed up and off to the airport - plane late leaving but the flight Homeward bound via Hong Kong was good and the food reasonable. We lost a full day in travelling and arrived in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday 19th. August 2006 about 10am and were met by Peter and Lisa. We had an Australian pizza for tea and it was y u m m y. Vera and I both had bruises all over legs from last few hostel bed rails.
Days 106 - 109: We went sightseeing in Brisbane along the South bank; through the markets; on the ferries up and down the river; into shops and museums; the Casino; up the hill to the lookouts and had a wonderful sunny day on North Stradbroke Island - we traveled by train then ferry to the island, caught a bus out to the point and walked around there watching the whales as they swam and breached just off shore, then strolled along part of a most beautiful beach before catching the bus back to the ferry and the train home.
Day 110: Our last morning and flight of the holiday.
Days 106 - 109, Australia, Brisbane
Views of Brisbane - US at the Museum Thanks to Pete and Lisa for sharing their home with us and taking us around Brisbane and goodbye to Pete, hugs and kisses before we stepped into the airport for the 1300hrs Qantas flight home to Perth where our families were there to meet us, then it was time for us to go our separate ways, Vera to Morley and me to Riverton.
1 year on: writing up the journal has been another wonderful experience for me to relive the fantastic adventure Vera and I shared in 2006. Remembering the places we had visited was difficult to say the least, but information taken from my daily journal and Vera’s e-mail reports home to family and friends plus the Internet for correct place names all went together to make the journal that I hope you enjoyed. It was certainly one way of looking at and identifying photos. All the way through I had an extra travelling companion that I could not have done without - true Aussies will recognise it!!!! Photos included.
Thank you all for sharing our adventure.
Jen and Vera
