My colleaguesLaxman in the foreground and then from the left: Asti, Scott & Dominica, Anglea and John and Michael and Mrs Michael.
These have been great 3 months - my colleagues were wonderful, and my flatmates fabulous! Every morning I looked forward to go to my office and then every evening I looked forward to come home. Best of both worlds! I am gonna miss QUT, 2 O’Connell st, South bank, Brisbane and my friends! It was just like yesterday… when Kerry picked me up from the airport, Ben told me where the supermarket is, and Dominique guided me around QUT campus. Time goes by too fast when you are having a great time.
Luca and Giuseppe left at the beginning of the month. When they left I thought things are gonna calm down and our weekly barbeque’s and soccer will stop. But to the contrary the last month was even better at 2 O’connell st. Alex (Germany) and Tone (Denmark) moved into the apartment and Katrina (moved in mid-feb) who was a bit shy in the beginning really started to be a part of the group. Infact she was the coolest - she never said ‘No’…just the occasional “maybe’s.” Alex and Jana were the great initiators - they always brought the group together with new ideas for dinners, parties, trips,
bbq’s. Francesca, although she didn’t stay at our flat, she was as much a part of it as anyone else. I wouldn’t forget her soccer skills. She beat all the guys at all the sports - unbelievable! Usually we always teamed up together to beat Alex but until the last weekend when she changed parties and played on Alex side. You know the result…they beat us and Alex tasted success for the first time - thanks to Francesca! Ben was cool - Ik ben Ben! He could down 2 liters of wine and still be wide awake talking all night with Jana (Keine engels, alleen Deutsch). Luca was this all-time smiling, energetic, loud and crazy Italian guy…Giuseppe was Swiss born, but Italian wannabe, who was in Oz to learn English - but I guess he learnt more English in the dance clubs rather than in school.
I loved my desk at QUT. Every morning I discussed cricket world cup with Jenny and then practiced my Hindi with Laxman in the afternoon. Asti was always besides to amuse me with her singing and humming, Sabrina was around to have some good discussions and just over the counter were Dominica and
Angela for some intelligent conversations…and ofcourse Naomi in the corner to challenge me in squash and tennis!
I am gonna miss them all.
After the pool gameAlex + Francesca beat Anish + Katrina... Alex tasted success for the first time and then everytime after...damn!
The last Breakie!Morning of my departure - Ben and Alex organized a special breakfast for me in the garden. It was simply wonderful
