Bowenwood

Sorry for the delay in updating, we have had a few internet problems. Our wireless broadband "thingy" (and yes that is the technical term) died all of a sudden, so we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new one (well one of us more than the other, you can guess who...).

Things are still moving along here in Bowen and Brett finally has more of a crew to help him out on the skatepark so he should be done in another 3 weeks or so...

The weather has been heating up the last week too, from 25 to 27 degrees (ha ha), although it feels quite a bit warmer as it's been a bit humid. We even had a sprinkle of rain on Sunday, which has to be one of the first times we have seen rain in the 3 months we have been up here. It only lasted about 15 minutes, which was fine by us, and then it was sunny again. The rain gave us a chance to head to the Grandview Hotel which is an old pub in town to have a drink and watch a local band play. The Grandview is the pub they used as the main pub, The Territory Hotel in the movie Australia. Alot of the scenes in the movie that were supposed to be Darwin were actually filmed in Bowen, and is still quite the talk of the town, there is memoribila and photos in alot of the store windows and shops, and even a sign made to look like the Hollywood sign, except it says "Bowenwood". Guess they were here for about 8 weeks filming in 2007 and even hauled in all the red dirt to make it look like Darwin area in the 1930's.

We are off on a scenic flight over the Whistsundays on Sunday and also looking forward to Brett's parents who are coming over from Vancouver for a visit the following week, then another trip in the works (we will keep the location under wraps for now), and another visitor, so stay tuned....
