Today was attempt no. 2 at surfing on my trip. The last time didn't go too great, seeing as It left me scarred for life, but I was keen to give it a go and try improve my opinion of the sport this time around. I decided to do it here in 1770 simply because it was diert cheap - $16.50 for a 3 hour Surf Lesson, so I couldnt resist at that price.
Today went better, we shared a board between two of us, and I was on my own seeing as it wasn't really Bex's thing, so ended up with an American Dude (control yourself Hollie) called greg, who was a cool guy. You basically share it between you and one goes n for like 10 mins and then swap over. At first I thought that was a bit crap, but after 10 mins I was ready to come out, because it was hard work out there. Much mroe so than last time. I escaped this time, pain free, and only went under once, which I was pretty impressed with. I managed to stay on for a few seconds on a couple of occasions, so I was quite
happy with myself. Though I think that is now officially all my surfing done with. It's something that requires alot of dedication and hard work, and it'd take years to get decent at.
Anyway, I enjoyed this morning, and I think I'll just spend the rest of the day chilling out. Probably just reading, listening to music and the like ..nothing too special. Our Hostel - 1770 Backpackers is reeeeally small. There's 26 Beds here I think, so you can kind of get to know some people, though they all seem to stay for a day or two and then leave, whereas Im stuck for a Whole Week! There's a few activities to do, but we've pretty much covered them now so God Knows what next. Tomorrow we have nothing planned ..we wanted to do a joy ride in a plane but it's not running atm for some reason. Some guy takes you up in his little plane for 75 mins and then pretends to fall asleep at the wheel and you have to steer it etc. He's a bit mad but everyone raves about it, so Im a bit gutted we cant do that. And then Friday we
do a Sunset Kayaking Thing, and that's about it. And Sunday we Leave ...Hoooray!!
