... how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see!
It's true that almost a year ago now I was a lost sole who wanted to be happy but couldn't. Since my travels I have grown up to the true meaning of happiness and have learnt that the main ingrediance is to be content with yourself. I count my lucky stars to how fortunate I have been with all my travel experiences and will cherish them for the rest of my life. I also believe I have had a whole army of guardian angels looking after me, my dad being the leader...
To add to my list of experiences I have now flown a plane! Yes you read correctly, I was given the controls of a plane and I live to tell the tale!!! After my horrendous 24 hour journey from Mission Beach to Agnes Waters (town of 1770) I checked into my hostel, had a shower and went on my scenic flight trip around the peninsular of 1770. Other then it being a little bit windy the sun was out with clear
blue skies and amazing turquoise waters. I was happily concentrating on flying straight when the pilot told me to do a sharp left turn, I questioned him to how sharp he would like me to turn and he demonstrated it!!! If that’s how you want it that’s how you’ll get it…Wow was I making figures 8’s in the sky!!!! Yeee haaaa… After passing back the controls to the proper pilot we landed back safe and sound onto land and I went back to my hostel. I was extremely exhausted from all the adrenaline rush so I decided to have a well deserved nap. Later that evening I bumped into friends I met in Airlie Beach and we sat up till the early hours playing drink games and I lost a round of ‘ring of fire’ and let me tell you it wasn’t a cup that was in the middle full of mixed alcohol it was a saucepan that I had to down!!! Yuck!!
My second day at 1770 I went for a walk along the 7km beach (one way), I was told there was a path at the end of the peninsular that cut across from the rocks through
to the caravan park and back up the peninsular back to the town of 1770. But me being me I got lost and found myself in the bushes that were grabbing me!!! I somehow managed to get myself out of that pickle of a situation and was back in civilisation again. By this point I was knackered but I had yet to go on my Scooteroo adventure! It was basically mini version of Harley Davison bikes in a convey around the town of 1770. It was a little tricky to get used to and hard to balance but I got the hang of it and drove upto a speed of 75mph!!! I am now a biker chick aswell as a pilot!!!!
I think the town of 1770 is a beautiful town and I wish I had a little longer to spend however I have got my Fraser Island adventure with Laura to look forward to. Yes that’s right, my little travelling companion Laura and I reunite for the last time in Australia!!!
Will write next to tell all about my Fraser Island adventures. Bye for now. xxx

You're a star Mel!!
Well after reading the first part of your blog entry have to say you really had me in tears, I definately agree that this 12 month adventure has been the best thing you've ever done and good on you girl. From leaving me in LA nearly a year ago I know just how nervous, unsure and terrified you were to be continuing your journey where you didnt know anyone and had no idea just what was in store but against it all you went ahead and did it anyway and for that alone you should always be so proud of yourself, always believe you're stronger than you ever thought possible and that you're capable of anything you so desire to set your mind too. Never ever forget that and I know your Dad will have indeed been looking down at you the entire time with a great big grin on his face. Love you lots Mel and look forward to catching up with all your stories from around the globe when we're reunited in the UK. Safe journey home xxx
