Blogs to come when I get chance, here are just a few of the many pictures for the time being.
Well, where do I start. Kakadu was absolutely amazing. Infact Id even go as far as to say it was one of the best things I've done in Oz, after probably after my Skydive and the Whitsundays. For 3 Days we walked various tracks, climbed up to lookouts and jumped in freshwater pools and waterfalls. And thats without even mentioning, gettin to kick back in front of the camp fire at night after a long hard day, with an ice cold can of UDL, whilst attempting to the play the Didge. And as for our tents ...they were a mesh material which was see through, and so as you laid down to sleep, all you could see where the stars everywhere. I've never seen so many starts in my life. Despite how tired I was, it was difficult to stop staring up at them!
The first day of the trip we got picked up at 7am, and it turned out there was only 6 of us on the trip, all bein girls! At first I wasnt sure, but we
all got along really well, and its nice to have a small group as everyone can really get to know one another. I was joined by Jay - a korean, Two Finns - Anne Marie and Annika, a German - Maroe, and an Aussie - Matilda. They were all really nice. Our guide was called Genda, and was an Aboriginal dude, which is why I picked this tour. He used to live in Kakadu and absolutely loves the place, knowing it like the back of his hand. He definitely made the trip what it was, and I know it wouldnt have been half as good with any other company. He was always filled with energy and making sure everyone had a smile on his face, even if he was a little bit crazy.
On the first day, we did some rock climbing, which got rather steep, and almost killed me in the heat, to the top of a lookout. It took ages to get to the top, and I didnt realise how high it was, but it was totally worth it! We had lunch nearby in a little cave where there was all aborginal art that was 10s of
1000s of years old. Pretty Cool. And then later we headed to a pool for a much deserved swim. The Korean girl kind of started drowning too and Genda almost had a heart attack! Lol. "Dont you think it would be a good idea to tell your tour guide you cant swim before you go jumping in?" I could see where he was coming from. Toniht we had Kangaroo Fahitas, which were real nice, especially considering I'm not over keen on Kangaroo. I think it has a funny smell to it :S Lol. Then we headed out with torches to try catch a snake, but it wasnt to be, so we settled for a freshwater prawn and shrimp.
Day Two was the main day and we headed to Motor Car falls on the morning, after walking up a look out on the way. Its not fun walking in the heat, but it had to be done! After having a splash about there and chilling for a while, we headed to a picnic area where we had lunch and a little sunbathe! Then it was ready to climb up some huge steep rock to the top of a waterfall. I
thought I was going to collapse but when we got there it was just absolutely out of this world. The view from the top was breathtaking and the waterfalll was amaing. We climbed up it and behind it were the was another waterfall and another set of pools, where there was absolutely no one there. We had the place all to ourselves :D Around 4ish we got back to the bottom of the waterfall and stayed there for an hour or so, where there was like a beach kind of thing, and I fell asleep, only to be awoken by Marie poking my arm telling me we had to go. Lol. Tonight,. it seemed God had finally answered my prayers, and for dinner we had a Roast. Only fitting considering it was Sunday too. It's been over 3 Months! And God Have I missed my Sunday Dinners! It was divine! We all laid under the stars tonight, and saw a shooting one :) Genda told us some aboriginal stories about some different constellations, which was cool, before we called it a night around 11ish.
Our Last day meant alot of travelling, but we visited the Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and
then went to Nourlangie Rock (I think) where there's loads of Aboriginal Art around it. After lunch, we carried on the road, until we got to the Adelaide river, where we did a jumping croc cruise. That was boss by the way! As we all went our seperate ways at the end we agave each other hugs and stuff .. it was nice to have such a cool group of people.
Anyway, I have to go now, need to fly to Phuket, but I'll try write a little bit about Litchfield at some point too. Byeee x
