Found this thing inside our mail box one day. Yikes! By the time late June rolled around, we were getting pretty comfortable living in Darwin (Karama to be exact). Hillary and I had gotten into a traditional work routine, and were saving as much as we could so that we could have just as much fun on the west coast as we had had on the east coast. I was lucky enough to have basically been guaranteed work at CDU for the few months I’d be in Darwin. This stemmed from a job where I was just being renewed every other week, so I was really happy with that. And Hillary decided to keep working with ITEC, even though she wasn’t always thrilled with the amount of work coming her way.
One luxury we kept active was watching movies. Now that we were making money, we didn’t feel as guilty about going to the movie theatre every week. As mentioned before, we saw Angels & Demons, which was ok. I thought it was better than how Hillary felt about it, but she had read the book and felt it didn’t live up to it (much like The DaVinci Code). We saw the Hangover, which was funny. Problem with it (like

Kinda creepy, but very interesting! most comedies these days), is that they show too much of the story and too many of the jokes in the trailers. By the time we saw the actual movie, it felt like the majority of the best parts were ruined for us. But we still laughed plenty. Terminator Salvation was average. Some of the action was ok, but the story was weak and overall it was a little boring. Year One was just disappointing. In this instance, the trailers did their job and got us in the theatre, but the movie was bad. Too many joke sequences were just too long, to the point it started to feel uncomfortable. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen broke box office records everywhere. Unfortunately, it too was a bad movie. Too long, too dumb, and too convoluted. They even over used Megan Fox (which I can’t believe I’m saying). By the third slow motion running scene, I was actually bored. Anyways, enough about movies. Hillary’s never been a fan about how I ramble on about things like this. Haha
June 24th was the second State of Origin match between New South Wales and Queensland. It’s a best of three series, but

A nice shot of the moon. even if a team wins the first two games, the third is still played. Queensland had won the first game, and was trying to make it a record 4th year in a row of winning the State of Origin series, the longest streak ever for the State of Origin. And guess what? They did it! Plenty of celebrating that night. Hillary even drank some beer, which she occasionally does (whenever John keeps buying me more beer) in order to keep me from getting too drunk and still able to work the next day. You could say she takes a “Silver Bullet” for the team… I crack myself up sometimes. lol
By the end of June, Hillary was starting to get a little restless. When we were backpacking across the country, we were always moving around. So we were getting plenty of exercise, but now that we had been rooted Darwin (for a month), not so much. So we started jogging! We plugged in our MP3 music players, strapped on our running shoes and started touring the neighbourhood. You really get a good feel on how people live when you pass the same areas a couples times a week. Mostly

When the moon's up at the same time as the sun, it always seems pretty cool. single level houses. Some nice, some not so nice. The majority are gated with high fences. And EVERYONE seems to have a dog (or two or three)! We really didn’t realize how many people had dogs until we started jogging past them and it became a steady stream of barking (I guess in areas like this, people like the added comfort it creates for protection). Funny thing is, we never see anyone walking their dogs… Weird.
