Ski Rider
Our home for the past 4 months Monday 28th September 2009: Good bye Ski Rider!!! It all felt a bit surreal leaving our home of four months. With over 40cms of snowfall in our last week, it didn’t feel at all like we were leaving winter behind and welcoming summer. That said; we were more than happy to wave good bye - so much to look forward to!....
A quick trip into Jindy-Town for a great big breakfast of Eggs Benedict with our very good pals Steve and Maja, then a little teary ‘see you later’ at the bus depot.
We had some business to finish off in Jindy - organized -me - ‘forgot’ about my follow up Hep. shots that were scheduled for one of the hang over days - so we had to make a special trip into the Dr’s for that.
Finally on the road to Coota. I had planned on gazing out the window at the beautiful Australian scenery on the way, however the shots I’d just been given didn’t agree with my stomach, and spent over half the trip in the back trying to sleep, cuddled up with Jok. Luke said it was beautiful though, I’ll take his word for it.
Coota
Learning to ride the postie! The next few days spent in Coota were so lovely and relaxing, everything we’d hoped; catching up with Luke’s family and friends, a jam day with Jude, Ben and Jackie, I even learnt to ride the postie! The weather was perfect, and for the first time in 4 months we were able to make all our own food, we delved into avocados, lovely tomato’s, rice crackers and mushrooms - it was bliss! After having lunch with Luke’s mates, on Friday 3rd at The Globe, we met up with my parents who had just driven into Coota for the first time. We had a BBQ that night with Luke’s family and my parents - such a great night! Kathy was kind enough to get us a Farewell Cake - with the words
'Farwell Sarah and Luke' - she said it was a mistake, but we think they mean for us to Go Far.......and to Go Well. 😊
We said our goodbyes to Coota early Saturday morning - Steve, Kathie and Jok waved us off!
The trip home was great, Luke nestled into the seat reading his new book “Twilight”, Dad drove, Mum told me about their trip and I filled
Cake Time
Farwell Luke and Sarah! her in on the snow. Arrived in Abermain just on dark - Scottie, Kasey & Robbo came over so Mum & Dad could give us gifts from their trip across the Caribbean! Then we headed off to the Bailey’s for Nathan’s 21st. Thank god we didn’t have too late of a night, because Wine Tasting was a big day - well for some it was - yes me! What fun though!!!!!! Sharna (my 180) and Simone were our extended family and made it all the more enjoyable! As soon as Wine Tasting was over, we were off to Ella & Johnny’s for dinner and drinks. Luke cooked awesome, awesome Sushi for us all! Monday was a BBQ at my house - it was really great to catch up with everyone. We had so much to cram into our few days at Abermain, we were always busy there; every spare moment was spent on last minute packing, I feel like we crammed so much into little time that it’s all a bit of a blur - a very happy blur.
Tuesday 8th was a fun day in Sydney with Mum and Dad. We started to get into ‘Tourist-Mode’; walked around
Stopping for lunch
My Family - Dad, Luke-e, Sharna, Kendi, Kasey, Robbo, Scottie, Simone and Me.. to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, took some photos of the Bridge and Opera House and were fascinated by the bats in the park - lol - well I was. Waved bye to Mum and Dad after lunch, I think I was sadder to say bye then they were.
Our Farewell night - Dinner at Arthurs Pizza was absolutely beautiful. Nice food, lovely wine, and great friends always makes for a fun start of the night. Tara, Jono and Tash joined us for dinner and it was really great to have a quick catch up. Even though it had only been a week since leaving Jono and Tash at Ski Rider, it felt like months had gone by - and there was so much to talk about! We’d organized to meet everyone at The Paddington Inn at 7, so unfortunately we had to skull our wines to make it on time - this skulling played a huge part in how the rest of the night unfolded for Luke-e.
Our mates from Ski Rider made most of our crew that night - with the exceptions being Tim and Tara - an awesome bunch! No surprises that it was the boys aim to
Kearsley
Ella and Johnny's for Dinner have Luke morph into Morgan, so there were shots and beers shouted for him all night, even the sneaky vodka shots in his beer -
thanks! It was such a fun night, bar hopping, laughing, dancing, with great friends. As the night went on, the crew dwindled. Close to sunrise; there were just 5 of us, and we all made the trek back to our motel - where we spent the next few hours passed out in the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in! We spent the day with Lachlan and Pruie, had lunch in China Town, trekked about the city - unsuccessful in finding a piercing place to get Luke’s nose pierced. We parted ways with them in the afternoon, and headed back for a quick nap before a delicious dinner at Fellini’s. Luke had a sleep in Thursday morning, while I caught up with Ella for some a coffee - two little country girls in the big smoke. 😊
My first driving experience with my suitcase was a challenge, I was hopeless. It kept spinning out, and every bump I hit, or crack in the road made it flip over. The stairs at the train station were
Sydney
Happy snapping with Mum and Dad horrible, thank god a nice man saw me struggling and stopped to help - Luke had pretty much skipped down the stairs before me with his making it look all too easy.
I was so excited this whole time, driving my suitcase, catching the train to the Airport, lining up at the Airport, eating our last Sushi breakfast, waiting for boarding, getting on the plane, and then the first take off on our big adventure. I loved every second of it. We spent most of the flight with our headphones on, watching movies - trying to block out the poor little baby who wasn’t enjoying the flight so much. Eventually we flew out of Australia, and then there was only water to be seen, until all of a sudden the lights in the distance became closer and closer, we flew over Indonesia, Singapore, and eventually landed in Kuala Lumpur!
