Hello!! It is very overdue for this blog's update! Here we go....Port Mccquarie was 2 weekends ago (the 3rd through 6th of March) and a lot of fun! Tom, Piers, Chelsea, Heather, and I arrived Thursday night, after a horrible 4 hour drive! I had some serious car sick issues on the way- not very enjoyable. First, we had a home cooked meal of yummy pasta then we took a walk to the beach! Port Mccquarie's beaches were very different from other beaches that I am use to in the United States. There were many beaches that were separated by clusters of trees and huge boulders. We stayed at the beach until nightfall and headed back for bedtime. On Friday, we spent all day at the beach called Flynn's. The water was very clear and pretty ... read more

Today we set off for Rosies at Taree. We stopped at South West Rocks on the way south and had a picnic lunch out near the old gaol. I cooked roast lamb in the van for dinner....very nice too. We stayed overnight at Rosies and then headed home. We brought Rosie back with us so as she could attend mum's birthday lunch the following day. An end to another great holiday in our little van.... read more

Today we picked up mum and drove up to Old Bar to visit Rosie, Shelly and Sarah. Our Sarah is staying with Rosie while she does her 6week prac. at the Health Services in the Taree Area. We enjoyed a lovely visit and had a barbeque lunch before setting off for the long trip home. On the way home we detoured off the road at Bulahdelah and took a drive through the Myall Lakes National Park. We continued on until we came to a River Punt. We crossed the river and continued through the National Park, on the other side, driving through Dees Point, Mungo Brush and on down through Tea Gardens and then back onto the Pacific Highway............ rather a large detour!!! but very pleasant.... read more

We spent the morning at Coffs Harbour, Steve and I took a lovely long walk before lunch while Meagan rested at the van. After lunch we drove to a caravan repair place to have the gas oven fixed. Apparently we had water in the lines and that is why the oven wouldn't work. We set off at about 3pm to drive to Rosie and Rick's place at Old Bar, arriving at about 6.30pm. We all went out to the local club for dinner. It was great to catch up with them again.... read more

The train from Gosford arrived a bit late, but Roz was still waiting at the station. This is another cousin I've never met before, but it felt good. We got back to their house( Rick had a barbie ready ),nattered all night, and enjoyed seeing each other. Their house is in a beautiful spot, very quiet, no passing traffic! We spent Friday on a whistle stop tour of the best of the Manning River area with their youngest daughter Shelley (who had to miss school for the occasion - shame!), punctuated with morning tea and fish and chip lunch stops. We had a lovely swim at the beach, then caught the train back to Gosford ( much later this time - nearly asked for my money back!). Luckily Sue checked arrival time before she left home. ... read more

Well... After that, I was barely home one minute, then I was off again (actually, I was home a tad under twenty-four hours: in Saturday night, out again Sunday Afternoon). This time I was heading up the North Coast, to Grand old Taree. I have a love-hate relationship with Taree. I love the hospital, I love working there, I love the people, I love how you can be totally out-of-your-depth, yet not so much that you can't rise to the challenge. But I hate that it is three hours from home (two-forty if you're in a hurry, or it's later at night), and that they roll up the footpaths on five pm, and nothing is open except restaurants. That said, I'd agreed to work there for three weeks: working 8-5, Monday to Friday. Ah, yes, ... read more
