3 months can go really fast when your having fun and in hindsight I could not believe i did not want to come back to this amazing country called Australia!
I guess after start to remove the blinkers the true colours come shining through and glisten on a grand background of gum trees as the scorching sun dissappears over the horizon. Smelling the fresh ecalyptus and hearing the kookaburra waking you early in the morning and making you realise you are only able to hear that noise here in Australia. Of course how can you forget the original Australian icon the kangaroo, such a wierd looking creature that seems just love to hop in front of you car just as your passing at 160 kms per hour down the dusty freeway.
I used to think that Australia was the same but I could not be further from the truth. From the barren desert and glorious sand dunes of Lancelin West Australia to the tropical rainforest on the most eastern point near Byron Bay, it contains a vast tapestry of both flora and fauna that sometimes seems as if it just cannot be real!
This is why the majority of Aussies have 'no worries' even if their sheila has just carked it, its no reason not to crack open a coldie on the verandah and watch the lightning crack over the canefields. A country where everyone is really your best mate but not really your freind.
If the story isnt about bunyips or who won the cricket last weekend we really just dont care. When you just have get used to the fact its going to be another bloody hot day and the damn mozzies and flies just wont leave you alone. Ants crawling up your legs and sending the red back spiders out the door with the back of the broom its all part and parcel of living in this dry outback wonderland.
Thank you Australia for treating me so well, I have learnt so much and I miss you lots! It will be a grand day the moment I land again on this great southern land.
