Sangria! Sangria! Sangria!

Alexa, Melissa, and Leah at dinner before Marquee
We woke up with intentions of going to the beach on Saturday but the weather wasn’t so great. It’s lucky that we took almost all of our Sydney pictures on that first day because the gloomy weather would have ruined them if we waited! Bondi Beach is famous in Sydney so we decided to go even though we weren’t even wearing bathing suits. We checked out the various shops and stands on the street.

After, Melissa and I stopped at the mall before transferring from bus to train. I didn’t have any expectations but it turned out to be the coolest mall I’ve ever seen! There were classy seating areas and chandeliers everywhere. There was also a 3-story screen hanging off the balcony that showed the weather and ads for the stores.

That evening we had plans to meet up with Bird’s Australian friend, Rose, that went to her boarding school. Rose took us to a delish local burger bar where we talked and drink sangria for hours!

A boy from a nearby table approached us and asked where we were going out that night. He suggested a club called Marquee, but Rose shot it down because she

knew that it was really expensive. The boy and his friends said that they knew a girl working to promote the club so we could get in for free! Anything free sounded good to us so we tagged along. (Keep in mind that EVERYTHING we did that night was FREE…)

That turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. And ever will make. The walk to the club was gorgeous with the city all lit up and sparkling off of the water. Marquee was part of a really fancy casino so we knew right away that it’d be good.

The club was soooo classy that I bet we stuck out like sore thumbs. We were by far the youngest ones there…and the poorest. Everyone’s outfits must’ve cost hundreds of dollars and we only in our $10 Forever 21 dresses. In the bathroom, or I guess I could call it a salon, there were hair stylists and a professional photographer. Instead of a typical dj, there were dancers on stage like it was a show or something. Other girls like us might have felt uncomfortable and out of place in this super high-end club but we knew

Our FREE bartender made us FREE drinks on request!!
we’d never see these people again or experience anything like this so we were snapping pics left and right!

Then, out of nowhere, the promoter friend that helped us into Marquee pulled all 6 of us girls (me, Alexa, Melissa, Leah, Bird and her friend Rose) away into a different room. It was full of other women with only a handful of men in the room. I’m assuming that these guys paid a lot to be in this room because we were treated like celebrities!! There were miniature bars set up around the whole room with a personal bar tender at each one. We were guided to a table, introduced to our bartender, and told that we could request any drink that we wanted at any time!! We spent the rest of the night and hours into the morning taking advantage of the most amazing experience that effortlessly fell into place. The club was close enough that we didn’t even have to pay for transportation to the hostel.

Free, unlimited, personal bar service??? It was so surreal that we are all still in disbelief. We were lucky with a lot of things on this entire trip but Marquee

This FREE bar had vodka in a locked case with a selection of juices to choose from.
was definitely the highlight!!

It's too bad that the weather wasn't nice for this beach day but I'm glad we got pictures of the city when it was nicer on Friday
