Harbour View
The harbour viewed from the boat to Taronga Zoo For our last day in Sydney we got the ferry across to Taronga Zoo. We concentrated on the Australian section of the zoo, given that Whipsnade Wildlife Park is not far from where we live.
Once we got back to Sydney we went to the top of the Centrepoint Tower, now the AMP Tower. It was quite frustrating trying to get to the top and then down again as the lifts were so unbelievably slow. We were in a bit of a rush to get down for the next “Oz Trek”, which is some new ride that they have coupled on to the tower entry. There was a rather dubious initial ‘ride’, followed by a kind of flight simulator-type ride across Australia, which made up for it.
One thing that had been confusing us whilst we were in Australia concerned tips. We had always understood that you don’t do tips in Australia, although they now seem to be leaving space on receipts for tips and waiters now give you an evil look when you don’t leave one.
