Been a while since i updated...and going to skip the first two or so weeks of Melbourne as it was mostly relaxing, catching up with family and generally sitting on my arse all day :-)
So...Sydney. Arrived after a nice easy flight that was uber empty (whinge about the buses now biatches!) and made way to the accommodation. Nice and simple for the first day...apart from the fact that the hostel is in a dirty little part of Sydney that used to be hooker central. As the Aussies say...BONZA!
Following day i got up nice and early and headed back to the airport to meet Liam. Not good...i arrived on time for his flight...but his flight did not. So sat around exploring terminal one for an hour or so...JOY! But he got here safe and sound and we headed out on a Sydney adventure.
Strolled to the botanical gardens first...nothing too great just a bunch of flowers and trees with some fancy pancy greenhouses in the middle (Liam loved it!)! Did manage to insult some joggers practicing for the Sydney Marathon...not bad only 24hrs before pissing off the locals :-)
The Opera House was the next port of call...and close up it really doesn't look that great. A bit old and dated! Still...can say i've walked around the Opera House. Didn't venture inside though as lets face it, the music isn't exactly my cup of tea!
Third port of call for the day was the Bridge. Now this was much better than the Opera House. I left Liam to go climb the thing...didn't see the point as for some odd reason you are not allowed to tie a rope around your legs and jump off bungee-style :-) But he had fun and will no doubt tell anyone who will listen some rather "interesting" facts about the bridge and it's history! You have been warned :-p
Second day in Sydney got up a wee bit late to do too much. But headed to some tall tower (can't remember the name!) and got some pretty good views from up high for a reasonable fee. Did get to go an a super-duper ride after and see the whole of Australia in a couple of minutes. So i have headed back to Melbourne to hibernate...i jest of course.
We were going to climb one of the pylons of the bridge but was a bit too dark and rainy by that point so we settled for some Japanese food. Nosh nosh!
Third day was Manly beach...a nice 30minute boat ride away from Sydney. I managed to hold my stomach contents though and we just poodled around the beach in the glorious sunshine. It's a hard life, but someone has to do it.
The boat ride back was a bit choppy and i abandoned the viewing deck for the much safer, less rocky, less windy and less wet version of inside the mighty fine vessel.
Right...that's it for now as running out of time. Coming soon though is Blue Mountains, Byron Bay, and Chav Paradise
