Why helllllllllllllo again! How are you going?? (Yes, I'm trying to sound Australian on purpose!)
What have we been up to? hmmmm... let me start with Port Macquarie. We ended up staying there for a couple of days. Very cute town, but the highlight was definitely the Billabong Zoo! I'm not one to get overly excited about a zoo, but damn this one was awesome. We got to feed and pet dingos, koalas and kangaroos! So cliche, I know, but how often does that happen?? Koalas are now definitely one of my favorite animals. Seriously, they sleep for about 18 hours a day in the most random positions, and they are just so adorable. We went back an hour later to see if they had moved at all, and no they were still busy... sleeping. haha at the end of it Julie was sick of me babbling about how awesome I think koalas are, but they're so sweet!! hahaha.
After Port Macquarie we took a 6 hour Greyhound to Sydney! Julie and our backpacks were welcomed to Sydney by the 43, yes 43, degree heat. We thought it was just the exhaust from the train making everything so damn hot, but no! Other than that, we are absolutely loving it here! It reminds us so much of Vancouver, except with better weather. I think it also has something to do with the fact that it is the first big big city that we have visited, and I definitely consider myself a city girl! On our first day we were typical tourists and went down to the harbour to walk around the Opera House, and it was amazing! We took waaaay too many pictures, but oh well The next day we took a ferry to Manly and did a 10km scenic hike in our sandals. It was beautiful, and well worth it. Yesterday was 38 degrees, so Julie and I declared it a beach day. We ended up going to the infamous Bondi beach, which was stunning! Very touristy and trendy, but it was a gorgeous beach nevertheless! We we're in the midst of booking our flight to New Zealand, where we plan on staying for about a month/month and a half, and then continue our Australian adventure in Melbourne... That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I hear the Canucks are doing horrible?? What's with that?! Hope you're all doing fabulous and send me a message when you get a chance :). Until the next entry... xx
P.S. One random fact that I have to bring up about Australia-- there are TONNES of German people here for some reason. Everywhere I turn around I hear German, it's so weird!! People also love the fact that we are from Canada. I had a group of people chear once I told them, hahah oh god...
