Due to the recent Cronulla riot, I was warned to stay off the beaches. Initially, I was staying in Brighton-le-Sand which is sorta near the Cronulla peninsula...and is where the cops caught an idiot travelling on a public bus with a molotov cocktail. This kinda freaked me out coz I quite often had to travel by public transport. Moved to Parramatta for a few days, didnt do much besides walking up n down Westfield every other day. In the end, couldn't resist the temptation of the sand, sea n sun...finally hit the beaches against Amanda's advice. I had to convince Amanda to come along but she would only go to Manly in the northern shore. Ooh, I met up with Chris too (he was in his trademark pink tee yet again!!)

Sydney's public transportation costs a bomb (daytripper = $14), I decided I would walk whenever possible. Managed to cover part of the city by foot, from Townhall-Darling Harbour-Paddy's market-Chinatown-da Rocks-Harbour Bridge-Circular Quay-Opera House-Botanical Gardens-Woolloomooloo-Kings Cross-Hyde Park then back to Townhall. I think I probably spent 4 hours just walking.

Then, I decided to tackle yet another challenge-->the Bondi-Coogee coastal trail. So after spending the morning diving in North Bondi (which was a complete waste of $$$...the only consolation was spotting a seadragon) and breaking champagne glasses, I set out on a 2-hour stroll along the spectacular coastline (and someone told me it'd only take 30 mins...yeah right!!). Never in my life had I ever walked such shocking distances, under the blazing sun, with sweat trying to permeate thru a thick layer of sunblock. Though the dogs were barking and I ended up two humongous blisters on both my feet, there were no regrets. The highlight is probably walking alone across a massive and old cemetery between Bronte and Coogee. I've always been fascinated with cemeteries, especially one dat looks as primordial as this one. All these walking got me thinking how am I gonna survive Europe if I can't take this? My next investment will be in a good pair of walking shoes.
