Who's ya daddy! My daddy!
Spending a beautiful sunny Spring day with the other man in your life is good thing. And what a wonderful day we had. Gowza threw on her maxi dress and transformed into the hostess with the mostess and set the special day for daddies off in style. James and I rocked up with a few bits and pieces, mum and dad did the same and we all moved the table into the sunshine in the back yard where we wiled away the afternoon.
Mr C was fussed and fawned over and loved every minute of it. He even got some presents, the lucky old bugger. I think there was a Dr Who DVD and a nice black shirt and tee to wear underneath. In his words, he felt "great to be alive"... and, well, you can't beat that, now can you.
Mrs C pulled out her knitting and had us in stitches with funny gossip and stories about their day-to-day goings on in the land of Campbell. The poor love has had loads of major dentistry done recently but that didn't stop the chatter, thankfully.
James was in fine form with his
son in law / brother in law duties and on his usual best behaviour which he pulls out for these Campbell family gatherings. Honestly, I always think I've brought someone else's boyfriend when we come to these things... he's so well behaved! He was a good doo bee helping Gowz in the kitchen and massaging juicy breasts (chicken breasts not Gowza's) filling them with spinach, onion and garlic and his own general horsing around.
They were the biggest chicken breasts we'd ever eaten and most of us could only manage half. But they were so tasty we all schnaffled the rest away for tomorrow's lunches. They came with roasted vegies in antioxidant-filled bright colours, cooked to perfection. We all like a bit on the side and managed to squeeze in some homemade herby muffins as well... YUM!
But wait, there's more. Dessert. Homemade healthy, low-carb chocolate muffins and they even tasted good too. Add to that the leftover lemon-lime cheesecake we had as my early birthday cake the night before and VOILA... a Fathers Day feast.
The only thing we were missing was our beautiful sister Leithal, and her lovely hubby Phillma who live up in Cairns.
See you soon guys, you were missed! To Gowza, thank you for putting on a wonderful, relaxing, chilled out and fabulously delicious day for us... we'll be back to do it again next Sunday.
And finally to our wonderful father, Alan, who we love and adore with all our hearts. Thank you for being such a fantastic father - you are kind, loving, caring, thoughtful, generous and give great bear hugs. What more could three daughters want from their Dad? xxx
