CrocodilesDid you know: the way to tell crocs from alligators is that their lower teeth are visible when their mouths are closed as there are grooves in their top jaws... whereas with alligators, all their bott
... [more]Getting settled in... went to Adecco early this morning to sign up for some temp jobs. Yay! Hopefully some money will be rolling in soon to offset the exorbitant spending. Actually it hasn't been too awful - I haven't bought one piece of clothing since I got here, all of three days ago! A new record, surely...
Then lunch in the Myer foodcourt where there was this restaurant with amazing salads! I love salad. Walked to the Aquarium afterwards and have included some pictures too. I love fish! Especially ugly fish, as my roommates know all too well. I saw fairy penguins, a platypus, lion fish, sea cucumbers, sharks, seals, smooth yabby (they're like blue lobsters!), banana peel eel, pig-nosed turtle, lungfish, seahorses, mourning cuttlefish, seadragons, moon jellyfish, pineapple fish... list goes on. Something really cool - I saw an octopus playing with a colored ball and it's because they're very intelligent and get bored easily so they have to be given puzzles and all - this ball had little holes in it that kept food bits. An octopus will tire of a toy very fast though so they have to be changed over constantly.
Kenji came to meet
ToadfishMy favorite fish - the puffer fish! here they call them toadfish.
me afterwards, we went to see Dukes of Hazzard since it's cheap Tuesday, complete with lots and lots of candy. I've forgotten how good 'fantales' are! and jaffas... love those! turned my tongue all red but eh, that's half the fun!
There was a fair in Hyde Park, where all of these asian food joints had samples. We had some amazing Japanese fried octopus balls, then spring rolls, and finished off with little dutch pancakes covered in maple syrup (yay Canada!) and strawberries. So good!
Finished off the night at the Sydney Tower (the big needle... down under..) where the view was pretty damn cool (thanks Kenji!!) and then coffee before he had to go to work. What a day! I think I'll finally get to the Rocks tomorrow - the bridge, the opera house and more wandering. So cool! That's about it for now..
Fiddle rayThe coolest thing about sting rays is that from the bottom, they look like they're always smiling...
Lion fishSo cool! Lots of little flail-ey things.
